August absolutely ran away from me 😂

I’ve been a bit MIA on here the last few weeks because life has been FULL. Camping trips, birthdays, family stuff, work… all the good things 🤌🏻

But I have sooo much to share, starting with this little backyard maternity session. 🤍

No fancy location. No big production. Just home.
Watermelon in the backyard, Dad on the guitar, singing on the front steps, sprinklers, stickers and their little girl doing exactly what little kids do.

Basically just an afternoon hanging out together… with me third-wheeling with a camera. 😂

Annnnd THANK GOD spring is finally here because I swear winter went for like a million months this year yeah!

Anyway, hi 👋 I’m back. And my camera roll is FULL.

Tell me are we bloody excited for spring or are you one of those weird people who actually likes winter? 😂

You thought family photos would feel like... family photos (aka traditionally awkward)😂

Instead, you’re eating ice cream before dinner, the kids are feral on the trampoline, Dad’s spraying everyone with the hose.

That’s honestly the whole session.
No awkward posing.
No “everyone look here!”
No bribing the kids to smile.

Just a bloody good afternoon with your favourite people...
and photos that prove you were right there in the middle of it. 🤍

The photos are important.
But the experience matters just as much.

I don’t want your session to feel like another thing on your to-do list. I want it to feel like two hours where you get to forget there’s even a camera there.

And somewhere in the middle of all that...
we make the photos your kids will show their own families one day. ♡

I met these guys while we were camping at Glenworth Valley.

You know how camping is? Everyone’s just a bit more relaxed. The kids disappear for hours, you end up chatting to people you’d probably never meet otherwise.

Anyway, they saw me running around with my camera, taking photos of my own kids, and somehow we got talking about what I do.

I was probably talking their ears off 😂 explaining that I’m not really into the whole “stand over there and smile at me” thing. I’d much rather give your family something fun to do and photograph everything that happens in between.

They pretty much booked a session on the spot 🥹
They’d just sold their house and wanted some photos before they moved, which I thought was such a cool idea.
So instead of making everyone get dressed up and head somewhere pretty, we stayed home.

They made pancakes in their PJs, little man licked the beaters (obviously 😂), we piled into the wheelbarrow, got the leaf blower out, chased bubbles around the backyard, gave the dog a cuddle and finished off washing Dad’s ute out the front.

The whole morning just felt... like them.
And that’s probably my favourite part of this job.

They probably won’t care about the perfectly posed photo where everyone’s looking down the camera.

But I reckon they’ll remember pancake batter all over Masons face, riding around in the wheelbarrow, helping Dad wash the ute and one last morning together in the home where all those little memories happened.

Those are the photos I’d want too. 🤎
