Was this a competition? Honestly not sure anymore
Okay, you got me YES on paper ‘Fittest in the Coalfields’ hosted by Moranbah Crossfit was a competition.
But if I’m honest, that isn’t really what I saw.
I saw people laughing while pushing themselves to their physical limits…which is slightly unhinged when you think about it.
I saw people hit the point where they were done, only for someone else to convince them they had more.
The people finishing last could draw the kind of reaction you’d expect for first.
So yes, there were scores. There were winners. They WERE competing.
But watching it all unfold from behind the camera, I noticed the strange part: The same people trying to beat you were often the ones pushing you hardest not to be beaten.
If that’s competition, it looks a hell of a lot like community.
