Hi, I’m Michelle — the face behind Beyond the Lens Creative.

I am a mum who knows what it’s like to always be behind the camera and have a photo roll full of everyone else.

I’m drawn to the real stuff, the cuddles that never last long enough, the chaos, the quiet, the in-between moments.

My sessions are relaxed, unforced and built around connection. There’s no pressure, no perfect posing… only you and your Family, Pet or Business just as you are.

Baby Colin.

Newborn sessions at home are exactly that…at home.

No rushing out the door. No worrying about whether baby will cooperate. No pressure to have everything perfect.

Feed them. Change them. Cuddle them. Settle them.

I simply work around your baby and capture this little season as it really is.

And honestly, those sleepy cuddles with Mum and Dad are some of my favourite images to photograph.

I come to you with everything needed: including a beanbag and studio lighting, so we can safely create those soft, timeless images right in your home.

Newborn sessions are generally captured during your babies first 7-21 days. Sessions can always be booked later if preferred and these images will likely capture your baby more alert and awake.

Proof that photography is so much more than just pushing a button.

The model? Me.
The lighting? Me.
The camera settings? Me.
The composition? Me.
The posing and direction? Me.
The editing? Also me.

The actual button pushing?
The teenager. 😂

Because yes, technically… he took the photos.
But there’s a whole lot more that goes into creating the final image than simply pressing the shutter.

Photography is about knowing your light, understanding your camera, composing the shot, directing your subject and then bringing it all together in the edit.

So I’ll give him the shutter button.
I’ll take the rest.
