Images from a morning at the Community Connections Expo in Lennox Head, where local organisations came together to share the work they're doing across the region.

Among those attending were Mandy Nolan and Greens Senator David Shoebridge. They made a point of spending time with as many of the organisations as possible. Two were of particular interest to Mandy: Zonta Club of Northern Rivers Inc, whose local work includes advocacy and action around domestic violence, and Ballina Coast Care, working to protect and restore our coastal environment.

For me these are the moments I enjoy photographing most at community events: getting the formal shots, of course, but also watching for the conversations and connections happening around them.

Big shout out to Northern Rivers Su***de Prevention and Awareness Group for the Beyond The Blue car and bike rally they held on Saturday. Not sure that Lachlan's outfit was ride ready, but I doubt he actually got to ride in it! Congrats on your upcoming wedding Lachlan and hope you had a great Buck's party. 🤣

Standing room only at Resonator Music Shop in Ballina for Sunday’s Youth Open Mic, and it wasn’t hard to see why.

Such an impressive afternoon of emerging musicians and singer-songwriters, with some seriously talented young performers taking to the stage.

A big shout-out to Benita for creating the opportunity, and the kind of welcoming space where young musicians can get up, perform and find an audience.

A great afternoon to photograph, and plenty of talent to watch.

A nice way to end the week: cover and inside story in this week’s Ballina Times.

I photographed Luke Hogan and Annika Stautner stepping into some very familiar ’80s shoes for Ballina Players Theatre production of The Wedding Singer. Big hair, big colour and a Les Paul - what more could a photographer ask for?
