Benjy and Kade met at a New Zealand youth conference. It was love at first sight for Benjy and he decided that very week he would marry Kade! However, he didn’t speak to her much all week and got to the end wondering how he was going to marry her if he hadn’t made much of a connection. He managed to coerce a group of friends to facilitate things so he could have a decent chat on the last night. More convinced after that that Kade was the girl for him, he abandoned his family holiday to the north island and bused it back to Wellington to be with Kade. The rest is history.
Benjy and Kade have a lot in common. They are both firstborns, both from big families, both love God, love people and love being in the thick of things and helping out where they can. Kade loves singing and seems to know the lyrics to every song uploaded to Spotify and Benjy plays the violin and has inherited the Ryan ability to sing 🎵from his Grandma Marg.
Their wedding day was full of love and thankfulness.
I’ve included a few photos in this gallery of the way people managed the rain during the ceremony! It was really ‘whatever it takes’, which made it fun for asaph.weddings and me!

The last two weddings I photographed in New Zealand I stayed at the extra ordinarily hospitable Read’s house. It was then I met Kade, a vivacious, intelligent, hard working, driven, beautiful, completely loveable teenager. Bring us to 2026 and I was delighted to be asked to photograph Kade as the bride - marrying the love of her life Benjy. A couple like two peas in a pod. Just meant for each other.
I checked out the wedding venue Lacewood At Tuhitarata Estate the day before. It must be up there with the most stunning wedding venue there is.
It was winter and we were near Wellington, so it was very cold and rained ALL day with wind to boot, but…it was such a wonderful day and was a privilege to be part of it with asaph.weddings.
Here is just a tiny snippet of the day - more photos to come.

Being the outdoor type, it was fitting for Nick and Tabby to do a ‘tie the knot’ ritual - and they did it perfectly first pop!
There were some beautiful mushrooms in the forest so we had to get some photos near them.
The recessional was pretty magical so I’ve added a few from that - and some family and friends snaps.

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph Nick and Tabby’s wedding day last Saturday.
Nick and Tabby both have a love of the outdoors, adventure and service to others. It’s no surprise then, that they met running adventure therapy programs for complexed teens.
Both are quite competitive and love a challenge so Nick’s proposal spanned over two days with lots of riddles, challenges and tasks for Tabby to achieve before the box of gold and sparkles!
Rained poured down most of the morning and as we drove to Kuipto Forest for the wedding ceremony. The rained stopped for the majority of the ceremony, stopped again to give us enough time for some official photos, drenched us for some fun photos, and then stopped again for family photos.
Who said it shouldn’t rain on your wedding day?!
