Bare feet. Cheeky smiles. Kids who would much rather play than pose for a photo.

And that's exactly what I want you to see when you look back on your family photos.

Not a version of your family where everyone sat perfectly still and smiled at the camera.

But your family.

If your kids are obsessed with riding their bikes, let's photograph that.
If they love face painting, let's do face painting.
If their favourite thing is building cubbies, playing in the backyard or jumping on the bed, let's make time for that too.

The way your kids played at this age.
The way they climbed all over you.
The little games that had them laughing.
The way life looked at home before another little person joined the family.

Because years from now, I want you to look through these photos and think:

"Yep. That was us."

And maybe remember a few things you'd forgotten along the way.

There was no need to rush out the door, pack up the whole house or put a newborn in the car just to get beautiful photographs.

I brought along a pretty, breastfeeding-friendly dress for Mum, we stopped whenever Georgina needed a feed, and yes, I even edited out the scratch she’d given herself that morning.

Everything happened at her pace, in the calm and comfort of home.

Beautiful photos, without ever having to leave the house.

And if you’ve ever driven somewhere with a crying newborn in the back seat… you’ll know exactly what a relief that can be. ❤️

What time is sunset on your wedding day? 🌅

You may not have given it much thought, but it actually has a pretty big impact on your timeline.

If you’re getting married in summer when sunset is pretty late, I'd do most of your bridal party photos, get you into your reception…(so dinner doesn't start too late) and then sneak you out for a few beautiful golden-hour photos later.

But if you’re getting married in early winter or late autumn, when sunset can be much earlier, I'd recommend doing all of your bridal party and couple photos before the light disappears and then joining everyone for dinner.

And then there's the first look option but I'll tackle that in another post 😅 All this to say your wedding date, location and sunset time all matter!

This is just one of the things I’m looking at when I help you put your timeline together. Basically, I want you to have a ridiculously good day and ridiculously good photos. 🎉

Your house looks lived in? Perfect. Mine too.

I promise you, your home doesn’t have to be Pinterest perfect to have beautiful newborn photos taken there.

Swipe to see the behind-the-scenes and the finished image taken in the exact same space.

I know the first thing running through your head is, “I’ll need to clean my house.” Please don’t add that to your mental load 🙏

In those early weeks, you’re already feeding around the clock, recovering, and running on very little sleep. The last thing I want is for you to spend the morning hiding washing baskets or styling your home for photos.

The beauty of an in-home newborn session is that you get to stay where everything you need already is. Feed your baby when they need it, pause for cuddles, and stay in your comfy clothes a little longer.

I’ll find the best light, move a few things if needed, and gently guide you into relaxed, natural moments.

It doesn’t matter whether your home is Pinterest perfect. This is the home where your baby is loved, comforted, and where their first memories are being made. 🤍

The photos may look romantic… but wedding days are full of little moments like this. 😂

We were halfway through bridal portraits when a mozzie got trapped under the veil.

Kimi squealed.
Joel came to the rescue.
The mozzie didn’t make it. 💀

As well as the pretty ones, these are the moments I love capturing, the ones you didn't plan for, but will probably laugh about for years.

Can I tell you a secret?

During this family session, Mum and Dad mentioned they thought their little girl might be teething. They weren’t sure we’d get many happy photos...

After the shoot, Nana admitted she’d been worried about the same thing.

Spoiler alert: we got heaps of smiles. 💙

What can I say? There was a lot of running at this session… but there was a lot of laughter too.

No “say cheese.” Just sandy feet, cuddles with the grandparents and the kind of joy that happens when kids are allowed to simply be kids.

That’s why I love family sessions like this. The photos that matter most are rarely the perfectly posed ones — they’re the ones that feel like your family.
