So much has happened globally over the past couple of years and not a single person has been untouched by world events. One of the things I felt more than anything else was the restrictions on travel as this has been a big part of my life for the last 20 odd years.

I was forced to look closer to home - and instead of grand trips to the markets of SaiGon or the temples of Siem Reap or to experience the incredible history of Europe I found myself (initially) looking at my neighbourhood differently and, over the last 2 years, exploring my home state.

I have travelled to all corners of the state and seen some amazing things, from huge flocks of endangered red-tailed black cockatoos to families of emus running along the road, from fog blanketed country roads to red dust mallee track to wave battered coastlines, floods and drought. I don't think that I had ever forgotten how beautiful this country is but I have certainly reignited a passion to see (and photograph) more of it.

Another year ends and a new one begins.

2021 was another year with unique challenges and opportunities.

It was a time to reflect on what aspects of our lives are truly important like friends and family, it was a time to work on self expansion (in some cases this was learning a new skill ..... in others that expansion was due to staying at home and stress eating) it was also a time to appreciate the things we, all too frequently, took for granted.

I hope that you all have a safe and happy new year and that the coming year will offer us a chance to return to the things that give us the most pleasure, family, friends and travel.

Stay safe and see you next year.
