Botanical Gardens Albury

This photograph of a budding magnolia was taken on the morning of August 26, 2025 on a walk through the Botanical Gardens in Albury.
It was taken with my iPhone 14 in portrait mode set to 1.5, the brightness turned down and colour saturation up slightly. I was drawn to the way the light of the morning captured the softness of the bud.

Little Spider

This little spider was captured hanging out amongst my desert rose leaves late one afternoon while watering the garden!
Photo was captured on my nikon D750, using macro tube extensions. Settings were F5.0, iso640, 1/160s.
Editing included slightly increasing exposure and contrast, enhancing shadows and blacks, very slight increase in vibrancy and saturation and a smidge of dehaze and clarity.

Albury NSW

While studying photography at Wodonga TAFE last year, I found I enjoyed macro photography and would go looking for all the awesome night creatures, flowers and take photos. It took a while to figure out how to get a clear image and this was one of my best that I found in the garden. I used the 5D mark iv with a godox v1c set at 16. F8
1/125
ISO 400. A couple of small distractions were edited out and did a little bit of sharpening and some targeted contrast adjustments.

Queanbeyan, NSW, Australia

This photo was taken on a private farm property in Queanbeyan NSW Australia on New Years Eve 2025 at 8.09pm daylight savings time. A storm had just passed by opening up enough light to present the beautiful sunset. I took the photo on an iPhone 14 with the exposure and light turned down, the black point and saturation turned up slightly. I added a vinaigrette border which added to the moody, dark storm just passed. By holding the glass filled with Sav Blanc up, the horizon line didn?t disappear, the glass and its contents became one with the landscape and the sky. It was a symbol of saying goodbye to the year 2025 and welcoming in the year 2026.

The photo was taken in the Maze, an off piste ski area at Falls Creek Ski Resort in Victoria Australia. The mountain is Mt Feathertop.

The mountain is named Feathertop because during snow melt the long ridge leading up to the summit looks very much like a feather with many fine strands of snowy trailing off the ridge. The view from the Maze is one of the best views of the mountain but its only accessible to skiiers in winter. The trees in the foreground are snow gums that were severely burnt during the 2001 mega bushfire. The trunks are dead but the trees are recovering with new growth from the base
