By far one of my favourite raptor species here in Australia! 🇦🇺 This guy is one half of a local breeding pair here on the Redcliffe peninsula who are often seen clutching fish while perching on the bridge 🐟 Out of shot is the massive stick nest with the his mate incubating the eggs back in September 🪺 Amazing birds!

I got this shot a couple of months ago but my zoology study has been keeping me very occupied lately! 👀🌿🌞 I think they are juvenile Eastern Water Dragons but if I’m wrong I’d love help with the species I.D 🦎 I’m a real bird and mammal kinda of gal but lately I’ve been really getting into reptiles. Their adaptations and physiology is pretty epic🦎🌏🐍

These two shots of different koalas are a really good example of the variation you can get in one species 💗🐨🌿 Their colouring may be same but their faces have such difference in shape and personality !! After seeing no koalas in central Queensland (largely due to land clearing for agriculture), I am very aware of how special it is that there is a local population so close to the city 🌆🐨🌿💗 Definitely one of my fave Aussie species!

Hakuba gave us a stunning goodbye sunset yesterday 💗🧡🏔️🌿 For a girl that was born in the tropics it’s crazy how much I love alpine environments. There’s just something so special about mountains like these 🏔️🪵🌿

🇯🇵❄️⛩️ I really don’t know where to begin 🤷🏻‍♀️ This country is just incredible and continues to inspire me around every turn. Walking in snow for the first time in years has also got my senses on alert and watchful for all the little sounds in the stillness of falling snow. I’m in heaven ⛩️❄️🇯🇵

About a week ago I saw a wild owl for the first time in my life 🦉🌿 It was so eery to see its white face against the darkness of the night and appeared to be hunting a snake that was slithering across the road. Luckily I was able to swerve both thank goodness. Pretty amazing to think these owls are out there but so rarely seen!

A week later I was at the local library here in Agnes Water and coincidentally there’s a book on the shelf all about owls. And honestly I haven’t been able to put it down….they are such interesting creatures that are capable of flying in silence and their hunting skills have made them known as “wolves of the sky”. you have me hooked on owls 🦉 💗

Which leads me to this photo I captured in August last year of this amazing Great Grey owl rescued by the incredible people at North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre located on Vancouver Island, Canada. His name is Farley and he is absolutely mesmerising . Sadly he was injured from a road accident so releasing him back into the wild was not an option for this chap. Luckily he has a great home and it was amazing to see him up close at the rehabilitation centre 🌎

Was so fun to dig this photo out after reading all bout these incredible raptors 🦉🌿🌙
