I cropped this photo heavily to highlight the detail of a young chimpanzee’s hand gripping its parent’s.
This part of the photo stood out to me as being much more powerful in isolation.
The resemblance to human hands is a reminder of the connection and shared ancestry we share with primates, and chimps in particular. 🌍💞❤️

The hot weather today sent me batty.
It's been a few years since I've headed down to the Torrens to photograph the flying foxes in the heat.
I figured with the Australia Day events in Adelaide cancelled because of the heat, this evening was a good night for it.

These are my eclipse photos from the early hours of Monday morning (08/09/25).
Taken over a 3 hour period between 2-5am
I wanted to get the full sequence of the eclipse back to the full moon, but the clouds moved in about 5am with half an hour left to go, so I’m missing the last little bit from my sequence.

It was a very quick burst of activity for about 10 minutes or so.

For a moment I thought I wasn't going to get anything (except for very wet), then I got this shot right before it poured (again).

Another photo of that amazing Aurora display on Saturday 11-05-24

I never expected that I would capture something like this from home in South Australia.

I was feeling the effects of a cold this night but I didn’t let that stop me (took some pain killers and decongestant and went out in the cold Aurora chasing).
I paid for that a bit afterwards, but even still I’m glad I went, I may not get the same chance ever again.

Last nights Aurora from Port Elliot.
Knights has always been one of my favourite places, I'm so glad I got to witness the aurora from here just as it got dark enough to photograph it and before the clouds covered it up shortly afterwards.
I was the only photographer at this location too.

What an amazing night.
Photographing the aurora has always been on my bucket list for years. I never thought I'd get the chance in Adelaide, but tonight proved me wrong.
This is from Aldinga Beach (which at 9pm on a cold night seemed just as busy as a summers day with everyone out to catch this rare occurrence).
To the naked eye the colour wasn't this strong, but I could clearly see pinks and the light beams shooting way up into to the sky
I was worried before heading out that the hills might block my view of it, but it shot up way above the hills into the sky.

Sunset Normanville Jetty
I know the under jetty photo is a bit of a cliché, but I still like doing them and adding to my collection of under jetty shots.
I hadn't taken photos here before up until last week. This night was warm, a spectacular sunset and busy at Normanville beach but luckily no one was under the jetty (lots were on top of it above me though).

Sunset at Second Valley on Australia Day.
We finished off the school summer holidays with a few nights away at Normanville on the Fleurieu coast. I checked out Second Valley on Australia Day and the sunset turned on a great one.
