Last week, we had the privilege of hosting the incredibly talented for an inspiring fashion photography workshop!✨

Throughout the session, Weronika guided attendees through four distinct fashion lighting setups (plus variations), sharing the thought process behind each approach and demonstrated how lighting can completely transform the mood and impact of an image. Weronika had warned us beforehand of her speed in setting up, and she absolutely hammered home her point by smashing out the stunning lighting setups with precision 😁

Using a range of gear including d3’s and a beauty dish, magnum reflector and umbrellas + the smoke ninja and with support by and .r.kennedyimaging , Weronika generously offered a behind-the-scenes look into her creative workflow including:

- pre-production planning and shoot preparation
- colour theory
- styling decisions
- directing and posing models with purpose.

What made the workshop so valuable was the opportunity to watch a photographer who has truly mastered her craft work in real time, explaining not just what she does, but why she does it.

We had the creatives from Detail Marketing Communications in Perth over for this shoot by local photographer Jack Wenby. It was for the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival, and was included as a feature story in the Sunday Times Magazine. Jack worked with Osadía, a street theatre company from Barcelona that performs ‘live hair art’ - they were in Adelaide for WOMADelaide. Jack shot in our Pro Studio and used a couple of our coloured paper backgrounds for these incredible images. Here are some BTS shots from our in-house photographer Sam Oster.

Step inside a real fashion and beauty shoot with internationally published photographer Weronika Mamot, presented in collaboration with Profoto and Diamonds Camera.

Hosted at COG Creative Space, this in‑studio tutorial offers a behind‑the‑scenes look at how Weronika creates polished, editorial fashion imagery using the Profoto D‑series lighting system. You’ll see her complete lighting workflow in action — from clean, minimal setups to more sculpted, directional looks — with a strong focus on precision, control, and creating images that feel modern, refined, and commercially relevant.

Weronika will demonstrate multiple lighting setups live, breaking down how she shapes light, builds depth, and creates atmosphere without distraction. The session will also include subtle use of atmospheric tools such as SmokeNinja, showing how effects can elevate an image when used with restraint and intention.

With a professional model and makeup artist on set, attendees will experience a true working studio environment and gain insight into professional pacing, communication, and creative decision‑making.

This is an educational, industry‑focused session designed for photographers who want to strengthen their lighting knowledge, refine their studio workflow, and better understand how high‑end fashion imagery is created.

Showing some BTS and the resulting shots from shooting Aylin in the Pro Studio. Aylin is a Flamenco dancer from Spain who is in Adelaide for the , and she needed some standard portraits and headshots for her agent. Our studio is perfectly located in walking distance from the Fringe which is super convenient for visiting performers! Sam used the background lights mounted on the ceiling track to control the tone of the background independent of the lighting on Aylin, in order to get both light-toned and darker backgrounds from the same setup. First-up we are showing the mid-shot setup using 6 lights (4 on the subject and 2 ceiling-mounted background lights). Next is the full length setup also with 6 lights (4 on the subject and 2 ceiling-mounted background lights). Please note that Sam is a maximalist and loves total control over each element of her lighting! Total overkill as far as the other in-house photographers at Cog are concerned...LOL. The co-working desks are available from early Dec (now) and the private office spaces are available from late December 2025 and late January 2026. We welcome any creatives / freelancers or small businesses to join us in our relaxed and interesting co-working studio! $85 - $185 per week depending on the room and the setup selected :)

Currently tenanted by professional photographers and content creators, we welcome people from other disciplines to join our positive and welcoming space.

This week's colours wooohoo! Fresh colours for the week, modelled by the extra special Marie Dimopoulos from RMT Management ! It's been a while since we worked with Marie due to her busy schedule but finally the stars aligned and we got her back in to the studio! Our colours are Almond, Flamingo Pink and Deep Green - a versatile range for you to explore! We had a chance to play with the Smoke Ninja Pro Hazer Kit thanks to our friends at CR Kennedy (just down the road form the studio) - we can't wait to show off more of what this little ninja can do! It's such a perfect tool for creativity in the studio and we love it sooo much - keep an eye out for some videos coming soon! These were shot with the studio's continuous lighting gear.

How about these 3 colours for your next shoot this week?! We had an amazing time shooting this series of versatile looks in the Daylight Studio with our colours of the week - Ocean Blue, Scarlet and Cocoa. Our incredible model is Charli King from The Models - stunning and great fun to work with!

So how does this work? Well - each week (or so) we change our 3 backdrop colours in the Daylight Studio and include these in any Daylight Studio booking. We hope that by showcasing these colours in a demo shoot you will be inspired to plan a shoot that can generate maximum variety in one booking! We also enjoy the creative challenge ourselves - trying out different lighting each time to build versatility in our own work. This week we used a Lastolite Mega Umbrella (silver) as the key light (on a .lighting 300W RGB LED) with a couple of rim lights at the rear (Godox FL150R with a stripbox and grid), plus a Godox LC 500 light stick for pops of direct colour occasionally.

We usually shoot flash with our Profoto kit in the Pro Studio but for these shoots we have chosen to use continuous LED so that we can shoot video at the same time. It also changes up our 'standard' lighting practice to keep things fun. The Daylight Studio is $160 + GST for 2 hours :)

This week's colours of the week, currently set up in the daylight studio, are Canary Yellow, Apple Green and Tangerine. We had the beautiful Jess from come in to showcase the colours for this shoot and we had such a great time! As always, these colours are free with any Daylight Studio hire and they offer a lot of flexibility and creativity for your shoots. Changing the amount of light hitting the backdrop will give you a huge range of colour tones to play with. Thanks Jess for an amazing shoot!

Our colours of the week this week are Pink, Orchid and Thunder Grey. We worked with the incredible Elizabeth from The Models to explore this colour range - this week with hard light sources. We used a good ol' snoot with grid, and an Optical Spot with some simple gobos, plus RGB LED light sticks set to pink and light purple from Godox. Liz was so much fun and it was a really great collaboration to come up with the poses and styles. Shout out to her mum who pitched in and helped with not only wardrobe choices but with the overall energy and vibe. So fun!
