Cameron's 2007 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

Finished in Metallic Grey, Cam's CBR is one of the most recognisable bikes of all time, there was no better period of time for sports bikes quite like the early 2000's, and Honda was at the forefront of MotoGP Development with the highly successful predecessor the RC211V. But 2007 saw the second generation of MotoGP, which brought new rules that meant that Honda had to go back to the drawing board and create the ever successful RC212V. With this development in their MotoGP bike, it saw the newly redesigned frame make it's way into the road going eighth generation CBR1000RR line-up. Bringing with it massive improvements on handling compared to the previous model, with higher corner speeds, and greater stability at the heart of Honda's aim. This was mainly achieved thanks to the Unit Pro-Link rear suspension, updated frame geometry, and reworked front forks, and the engine also received a overhaul to bump the torque and power output up via higher compression, larger valve lift and an increase in RPM limit to 12,200. The 2007 CBR1000RR is one of those bikes that is forever timeless and a true delight to anyone that graces the saddle and hits the winding back roads.

This particular CBR has been fitted with a Akrapovič exhaust which wakes the note of the beautifully balanced 4 cylinder 998cc engine from sounding like an asthmatic lawnmower, to giving it a deep but throaty growl as it rips through the rpm range, listening to this note bounce off the city high-rises was like listening to the Adelaide City Orchestra preforming a perfect symphony that sends goosebumps down your entire body.

I loved shooting Cam's CBR, I cannot wait to capture it again once he has updated a few things. I must say it was quite refreshing to shoot something that has completely different lines and shapes compared to a car, I sincerely hope that I get the opportunity to shoot more bikes in the future!

Bobby's GD Hawkeye WRX

Finished in the ever stunning Garnett Red, Bobby's Hawkeye WRX is filled with some tasty goodies, and what I would consider OEM+.

Sitting astride on Motegi Racing Tracklites wrapped in 245 wide Ventus RS-4's, it handles like it's stuck to the ground with Super Glue and the sheer will of God.

Kitted out with a host of Whiteline and suspension goodies, everything has it's place to make sure that this WRX can get down and boogie with the best of them.

Power comes from the factory fitted EJ255 making 210awkw, aided by a full Turbo Back system, upgraded VF48 turbo, MRT Top mount, and a Turbosmart blow off valve to help manage the higher boost.

I must say that Bobby's WRX is one of my personal favourites when it comes to Subaru's, and it was the perfect car to shot after a 3 year hiatus from photography! It was delightful to shoot across several locations across Adelaide.

It's not everyday that you get asked to shoot one of the most amazing JDM cars that SA has to offer, but when you are, you'd be a mad man to turn it down! Even if it meant only getting 3 hours sleep before driving to Melbourne...

Cliff's 600+hp Widebody RX-7 is something you would expect to see cruising the roads of Japan late at night and not something you would expect to see sideways at near on 200km/h, when people say "Straight out of Japan" this is surely the car that they are referring to... I had a hard time picking which images to upload as there are so many that were worthy, but here is some that I think you will all enjoy.

I hope to be able to show you more of this car in the near future. Thank you Cliff for all the wonderful opportunities you have provided me with!

There's not many NA Subaru's that make me drool, but Ben's sure does! Aggressive looks and the fact its STUPIDLY low to the ground gives this car a real presence when you're sitting beside it, combined with the typical "cover your ears" level of noise that almost every modified subie seems to have, you know when he's out cruising the streets.

(oh and when I say low, I mean speed bumps and spoon drains are a real issue low...)

L 555 STE, That was the registration of Possum Bourne's 1993 Prodrive WRX, the car that would ultimately start my obsession with cars, and with Subaru's.

I was about 5 years old when I first saw this car on a replay of the 1994 Asia Pacific Rally (going off memory here) with Possum Bourne pulling off what seemed, at the time, an impossible feat of speed and precision. It was on this day that I made it one of my life goals to see it in person one day.

Fast forward to 2018, where it was released to the public that L 555 STE would be attending Adelaide Motorsport Festival, I was ecstatic to say the least. A true dream come true so to say.

I never intended for the day to go the way it did, but I am very glad for what happened next. Walking around the field I came across a couple, who had the most amazing Subaru jackets on. Stopping to politely ask where they got them I was shocked at what would happen after about 15 minutes talking about our love for the six star cars.

Robbie offered to let me sit in L 555 STE, words couldn't describe the smile and excitement that appeared on my face, this would mark the moment that my day would continue to get better and better!

Robbie would probably the biggest Possum fan I have ever met, and it was refreshing to meet such a like minded person.

All in all, it was a truly remarkable experience, and I am humbled to have met such an amazing couple!

I highly doubt that this will be the last time that L 555 STE graces this page with its presence....

Cars and Coffee November,

What can I say, as per normal there is a plethora of motoring history at this event every month, it is ALWAYS worth getting up at 5am for this event.
