Toni Marie Photography BEHIND THE LENS

I'M TONI

I am a passionate photographer who finds joy in capturing life's most authentic moments.

As a devoted mother to three wonderful children and a loving partner, my perspective is deeply influenced by the beauty of family connections and the wonders of nature. My love for wildlife and the great outdoors inspires my work, and I strive to tell compelling stories through my lens. Whether it's through camping adventures, road trips, fishing outings, or tranquil escapes by the water, I immers

e myself in the environment to create imagery that resonates deeply. In addition to photography, my interests include reading, true crime documentaries, online gaming, and exploring new landscapes. The serene beauty of water has a special place in my heart—it’s where I feel most rejuvenated and creatively inspired.

🍁Last Day of Autumn🍁

🍂Some days it’s the colours under your feet…
Some days it’s the skyline above your head…
And some days it’s the quiet little corners of Adelaide that remind you to slow down and actually look. From golden leaves on wet pavement to grand old bandstands and planes cutting across the sky every moment has a story if you pause long enough to see it. 🍂

☘️🌻Every frame is a reminder that beauty isn't rare you just have to slow down long enough to notice it.

🐾Meet Rylie🐾

He runs like he’s late for a meeting he scheduled himself
zero thoughts, 400 emotions, 900km/h

This tiny loaf is out here doing parkour on the grass,
tongue flapping like a flag in a cyclone, living his best unhinged little life. Honestly… I aspire to this level of chaotic joy.

🐾Meet Furgus🐾

There’s a whole universe in those warm brown eyes,
the kind that makes the world slow down for a moment
just to admire a heartbeat wrapped in fur.
Some souls shine quietly, This one does it with a smile 🐾

📸 A Morning on the Water
These two birds in the foreground are Dusky Moorhens, a common wetland species across Australia. The splashing and wing‑flapping you can see is typical of their territorial behaviour — they often run across the water surface to chase each other off feeding or nesting areas.

Behind them is a Pacific Black Duck, one of Australia’s most widespread native ducks, calmly minding its own business while the moorhens sort out their drama.

Moments like this show just how busy and social our local wetlands really are.

Superboats Light Up Adelaide Waters!

Adelaide’s waters turned into a racetrack this weekend! The Offshore Superboat Championships finale brought speed, spray, and serious horsepower — congrats to all teams who made waves in the 2025 26 season! 🌊🏁

The Championships wrapped up in spectacular style at Port Adelaide on 9–10 May 2026, marking the fourth and final round of the national series. Fans lined the coast from Semaphore Jetty to Largs Jetty, watching more than 15 elite teams battle it out across four high powered classes — each pushing the limits of speed and precision.

⚡ Weekend Highlights
• Location: North Haven to Largs, Port Adelaide
• Format: Three 30-minute races each day.
• Crowd: Thousands of spectators enjoyed free shoreline viewing and pit access.
• Conditions: Overcast skies, calm seas — perfect for high-speed racing.

📊 Adelaide Round Stats
• Fastest Boat: Hornet Racing ( #525) — 184 km/h top speed
• Closest Finish: Team Maritimo edged out Phantom Racing by just 2.4 seconds.
• Mechanical Drama: Two withdrawals due to fuel system issues amid the ongoing fuel supply crunch.

📸 Why It Mattered 📸
This finale cemented Adelaide’s reputation as a motorsport hub on water, drawing national attention and giving fans a front row seat to the roar of twin-engine offshore beasts.

✨New Holland Honeyeater in the Eucalypts✨

Caught this little rocket pausing just long enough for a photo.
Bold, busy and full of personality — one of Adelaide’s most iconic backyard visitors.
Love seeing these tiny nectar addicts darting through the gum leaves 🐦🌱

🌿 Mint Magic in the Garden
Did you know mint is part of a family of aromatic herbs with square stems, soft fragrant leaves, and tiny lilac or white flowers? It grows wild along waterways, spreads like crazy, and carries that fresh, cooling scent we all know. From soothing teas to natural remedies, this hardy little plant does it all.💚

🍽️ 1. Culinary Uses

Mint is one of the most versatile herbs in the kitchen.
• Flavouring foods — lamb, salads, chutneys, sauces, yoghurt, and desserts.
• Drinks — teas, cocktails, infused water, mojitos.
• Native Australian use — Mentha australis adds a mild, earthy mint flavour to teas, meats, dressings, and desserts.

🩺 2. Medicinal & Therapeutic Uses

Modern research and traditional medicine both use mint for its therapeutic properties.
• Digestive relief — helps with cramps, bloating, nausea.
• Cold & flu support — used for congestion and cough relief.
• Anti-inflammatory & antioxidant effects — due to compounds like rosmarinic acid and caffeic acid.
• Antimicrobial activity — effective against bacteria and fungi.
• Potential anticancer, neuroprotective, and gastroprotective effects — supported by emerging research.
Indigenous Australians traditionally used Mentha australis to treat digestive issues, colds, and wounds, and as a natural insect repellent.

🌬️ 3. Aromatherapy & Wellness

Mint essential oils are widely used for:
• Headache relief
• Mental clarity & alertness
• Stress reduction
• Cooling sensation (from menthol activating cold receptors)

🧴 4. Skincare & Cosmetic Uses

Because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, mint is used in:
• Cleansers
• Toners
• Lip balms
• Toothpaste & mouthwash
• Shampoos and scalp treatments
Its essential oils help reduce irritation, refresh the skin, and fight bacteria.

🏡 5. Household & Practical Uses

Mint is also used for:

Natural insect repellent (mosquitoes, ants, flies)

Herbal cleaning sprays

Fragrance in candles, soaps, and diffusers

🌱 6. Garden & Ecological Uses

Attracts pollinators like bees. Acts as a companion plant to deter pests. Grows vigorously and is easy to propagate.

"Blood Moon Bloom"

🌔A Total Lunar Eclipse🌖

🌘A blood moon happens when Earth slides directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow across the lunar surface. During totality, the Moon glows red because sunlight is filtered through Earth’s atmosphere, with blue light scattered away and the longer red wavelengths bending into the umbra.🌒

🌝What Actually Happens During a Lunar Eclipse
- Penumbral phase — The Moon enters Earth’s outer shadow and dims subtly.
- Partial eclipse — A dark “bite” appears as the Moon moves into the umbra.
- Total eclipse — The entire Moon is inside the umbra and turns coppery-red as it’s lit by every sunrise and sunset on Earth at once.
- Colour variations — Dust, smoke, and atmospheric clarity change how red it appears; clearer skies give burnt orange, hazier skies deepen the red.

🌑Why It Looks Red
Earth’s atmosphere bends and filters sunlight. Shorter wavelengths (blue) scatter, while red and orange pass through and illuminate the Moon. This is the same physics behind vivid sunsets — just happening on a planetary scale.

🌘 Visibility and Timing (Adelaide context)
Australia had a major total lunar eclipse on 3 March 2026, visible nationwide.
For Adelaide:
- Partial eclipse began: ~8:20pm
- Totality began: ~9:34pm
- Totality lasted: ~58 minutes
- Moon left the umbra: ~10:32pm

🌖This was the last total lunar eclipse until 2028, making your shot part of a rare run of events.

🌚How Often They Happen
Lunar eclipses only occur during a full moon, but not every month because the Moon’s orbit is tilted about 5°. Total eclipses are less common, and their colour and brightness vary depending on Earth’s atmospheric conditions at the time.
