The calm before the storm: The birds were busy at before Sundays storm blew in. I wouldn’t call myself a twitcher but I could have watched them all day - and I lost count of how many different birds I saw (and how many blurry shots I took 😂)
Loved the autumn colour too 🍂

Strahan and Sarah Island - just so peaceful which is ironic given its history. This little corner of the world was a convict settlement entered through Hell’s Gates and the hub of all the protests against damming the Gordon River in the 80’s. It’s a very sleepy little town now!

It wouldn’t be Tasmania without lots of waterfalls! The Three Falls Circuit at Mt Field National Park was a stunning hike: Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Lady Barron Falls, towering trees and lush forests. A giant dose of nature therapy!

Looking just like a giant teddy bear the wombats are everywhere at Cradle Mountain!
I was really hoping the one on the boardwalk would cross at the pedestrian crossing for me but no luck 😂

FB won’t let me add a video to photos so the video is in the comments.

I’ve lost count of how many lovely locals have checked that we didn’t miss seeing the turning of the fagus - they’re very proud of it here in Tassie! Fagus is Australia’s only native deciduous tree and it was just starting to put on a show at Cradle Mountain last week🍂

Picture perfect Dove Lake - it’s hard to believe we were hiking under blue skies and paddling in the mist a week ago, and today it’s snowing there!
Beautiful peaceful paddle with Cradle Mountain Canyons in their stunning King Billy Pine kayaks 🛶

If you love Highland cows (or coos) too you’ll love this experience at Highland Getaway, Tasmania. Brushing these gentle giants just like you would brush a puppy was such fun - and they make it known just where they’d like to be brushed too! A great morning on Julie’s farm 🐮
Just wish we had room for one at home!

Our first stop in Tasmania - beautiful Bruny Island. Amazing food and views everywhere and if that sourdough fridge was a few thousand kms closer to home I’d be a regular!
