Station Saturday..

Continuing my recent Station Saturday theme of views of Adelaide Railway Station..
This week a bit of different one from my usual collages, normally I try to get the images as close as possible to the original location..
But I've had a few requests for "The Man in Blue" board, which listed train arrivals and departures, and had an employee on duty to answer passengers queries..
Part of the original board has been relocated to The National Railway Museum in Port.. So it's no longer possible to photograph it at the Station itself..
However I will feature the original location comparison aswell in coming weeks..

In the first image by the State Government Photographer we see the board in its original location on the Concourse, The Man in Blue can be seen waiting to help passengers..
While above him the boards display the times and destinations for the various train departures..
While below train arrivals are listed either side of him..

These days TV screens display this information above the entrance to the platforms..

In my more recent image we see part of the boards in a recreated display at the Railway Museum.. They've done a good job of the display which shows visitors what the public used to use for train information at Adelaide Station..
Seeing it brings back good memories of the way the Station was in the past.. Many people remember The Man in Blue, as it was a fixture at the Station for many decades..

Time moves on though and modern technology has replaced the function of the old stall, like so many other things in daily life..
