Creating a 3D reality capture of a revegetation area provides significant advantages for land management, planning, and environmental monitoring.

Here are the primary benefits:

Accurate Baseline Documentation:

A 3D model establishes a precise, measurable starting point. Capturing the exact state of the bare terrain allows for clear, quantifiable comparisons as the planting project matures.

Topographic and Water Flow Analysis:

High resolution elevation data helps identify slopes, natural drainage patterns, and potential erosion zones. This allows planners to place specific plant species in optimal locations for water retention and long term survival.

Precise Progress Tracking:

By conducting periodic drone flights and generating updated models, you can accurately measure canopy growth, vegetation volume, and overall plant density over time rather than relying solely on visual estimates.

Safe Remote Accessibility:

Revegetation sites often feature rugged, steep, or difficult terrain. A 3D capture allows teams to thoroughly inspect the entire 45 acres safely from a computer, drastically reducing the need for exhausting physical site walks.

Enhanced Stakeholder Communication:

Raw data can be difficult to interpret, but a fully navigable 3D walkthrough is universally understood. It provides an immersive visual tool to clearly demonstrate progress to clients, project owners, or environmental regulators.

Exciting project update from the Drone It Out team! 🚁🌱

We recently had the privilege of providing 2D orthomosaic mapping for an incredible conservation effort at the Myponga Ridge site, partnering with the amazing teams at Human.Kind Studios Adelaide and Bio·R.

Using our drone technology, we mapped the entire 45 hectare revegetation area to provide a high-resolution, bird’s-eye view of the terrain.

This high-resolution aerial data is a true game-changer for ecological restoration. It empowers on-ground teams to seamlessly track planting progress, monitor vegetation health, and strategically map out critical habitats like the endangered Sheoak Grassy Woodland.

Ultimately, this restored site will serve as a vital lifeline, providing essential habitat for the declining woodland bird populations across the Mount Lofty Ranges.

It is incredibly rewarding to see our aerial mapping services support such a vital environmental cause right here in South Australia.

Learning about FPV flying...

As I progress on my journey into FPV drones, I've been spending a fair bit of time reading the CASA requirements to make sure I'm operating safely and legally.

One thing I've discovered is that FPV flying isn't quite the same as flying a standard camera drone. There are additional rules and considerations that every FPV pilot should understand before heading out.

A big thank you to Damien from Eyre Drone Co for helping me along my FPV journey. I really appreciate his knowledge, experience and guidance.

If you've recently bought an FPV drone, I'd encourage you to take a few minutes to read the official CASA guidance before your first flight.

The more we understand the rules, the safer our skies will be for everyone.

🚁 Fly safe. Fly responsibly. Keep learning.

Here are the latest photos of the retail development currently undergoing refurbishment and expansion at the former Noarlunga Bunnings site.

The new BCF store is rapidly taking shape, with exterior wall construction well underway. Weather permitting, the roof looks expected to be installed this week.

Fly with care around wildlife to help protect our amazing native animals.

Keeping your distance helps reduce stress on wildlife and keeps their habitat safe.

States and territories have rules about operating drones near wildlife, including minimum distances.
