Oh boy, I am in trouble!

I got a new lens and while exploring my optimal settings, it is like discovering a whole new camera!

I have been longing to document my everyday life with my kids for more than a year now! Something that should come first, always put last, because you know, always waiting for the right time, the right light, the right outfit, the right mood.

With the excuse of experimenting with my new gear, I started capturing our everyday moments, no matter if it’s not perfect. We didn’t dress for a “shoot” and these moments are 💯 candid as we went for a walk to the park today.

Beyond capturing these everyday moments, I am OBSESSED with these being STRAIGHT OUT OF CAMERA!

I haven’t retouched these AT ALL, just played around with my camera settings.

Keen to add this style to my outdoor sessions, along with the “normal” ones that I edit by hand in post production 🥰

July is flying by - excited for a new week filled with family sessions, cozy newborns in studio and capturing another return family in their home with their precious second newborn.

Now that kindy is back on I might get something done! So much to do, so little free time! 🙈

My liefste Lucs,

Before you turn 5, let me get around to posting your annual birthday studio sessions.
These were taken when you were 4, and boy, 6 months on I can see such a big difference in your face, mostly those chubby cheeks! Luckily, you still laugh the same, you still can’t stop talking, and you still like being silly.

Here is a love letter from me to you:

“All the girls who learned to guard their hearts ended up with sons, didn’t we?
Maybe that wasn’t a coincidence.

We spent years learning how to be tough.
How to keep our walls up.
How to expect less and carry more.
We tole ourselves we didn’t need anything from anyone.

Then one day, we became mothers to little boys.
Sons with soft hearts and gentle souls.

Sons who hold our faces in their tiny hands.
Tell us we’re beautiful- and say “I love you Mama” even on your hardest days.

Arms that reach for us without hesitation.
Big feelings that pour without shame.
They way they look at us like we’re their whole world.

And in doing all of that, they softened us in ways we never expected.

Maybe those boys were sent to us because we were the ones who needed that kind of love most.
The hearts we spent years protecting were just waiting for them all along.”

This little cowboy stole my heart with his bright orange curls and cowboy boots 🥹

This was the most beautiful milestone session. A full 150 gallery of the most adorable expressions and messy cake smash!

It is so special seeing my families grow up. How this little one has changed from newborn till now. ❤️

Even the no face images are adorable! Wish you could see the rest! ☺️

It feels like yesterday we were capturing his newborn days…and this weekend he’s back to celebrate turning one. Watching families grow will never stop feeling like such a privilege ❤️

Just a gentle reminder to take it all in 💕

Their fluffy cheeks and shoulders, their little rolls forming, their flaky skin, those droopy lips, and as they get older, their hair changing, their absolutely delightful belly laugh. And it just gets better, the first time they hold your hand, their first “ma ma”, the first I love you 🥹

We are now at a “I love you more than anything in the world, I love you more than a million” phase, and gosh, may it never stop. 🥹

What do I do when I am not taking photos?

I am still taking photos 😂

This is actually where my love of photography started, capturing the beautiful spaces in this world and documenting it as a travel experience.

One of my favourite hobbies is to hike, and I absolutely love going on any photo quest alone, so I can fully immerse myself in the experience.

This freedom that many people take for granted (as they should) is the main reason we moved to Australia. The freedom in safety, especially for me as a woman, to live freely without constantly looking over my shoulder.

This 3h summit hike took me through my actual dreams, misty forest, cozy hills houses, wineries and curious farm animals.

This experience is something I would never feel safe to do in South Africa. Hiking through the woods and next to the road ALONE, with a camera, no way!

So grateful to be here ❤️ and be living a beautiful free nature loving life, with nothing holding me back.
