Today marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of Bryan Clauson, one of the most talented, fearless, and beloved racers to ever strap into a race car.
Bryan's résumé spoke for itself—an Indianapolis 500 starter, a USAC champion, and one of dirt racing's all-time greats. But those who knew him best will tell you his greatest legacy wasn't measured in victories. It was his infectious smile, his love for racing, his generosity with fans, and the way he made everyone around him feel like family.
In 2016, Bryan embarked on his unforgettable "Chasing 200" campaign, determined to compete in 200 races in a single season simply because he loved to race. He had already competed in 116 events and won 27 races when a crash during the Belleville Midget Nationals claimed his life at just 27 years old.
Even in passing, Bryan continued to make a difference. As an organ donor, he saved five lives, inspiring the Driven2SaveLives movement and encouraging thousands of people to register as organ donors—a legacy that extends far beyond the racetrack.
A decade later, Bryan Clauson is still remembered every time sprint cars and midgets roar to life, every time a young fan dreams of racing, and every time someone chooses to become an organ donor because of his story.
Gone, but never forgotten.
