Having always been a massive supporter of the Rodney Fox Shark Museum and Learning Centre & the incredible work the team does in the education & conservation space, the opportunity to showcase my work as part of their first photography and art competition was an honour.

South Australia hosts some of the worlds most unique & unfortunately endangered wildlife just under the waters surface. It is both my passion & a privilege to be able to capture moments in time of underwater life and environments.

To receive confirmation that my work is enjoyed by others in such a way has left me very humbled. I cannot thank you enough Mark Tozer , Rodney Fox Great White Shark Expeditions & of course the wonderful team, Andrew, Chloe & Blue.

A lesson on Mondays dive at Rapid Bay in the importance of having a good spares kit.

I put too much faith into the battery in my flash trigger and arrived at the dive site with a flat battery. This meant I had no strobes for what turned out to be a dive with plenty of photographic opportunities.

I ended up having to hold my dive torch in one hand and my camera in the other. I had to open up my aperture right to F4 to get enough light in as well as bump my ISO up just enough.

Not only was it awkward to physically manage underwater but also working with such a small depth of field with moving subjects on a 150mm lens was certainly challenging.

On the other hand, shooting at such a small f-stop allowed for some fantastic bokeh.

More photos from this dive to come.
