If my first week as keeper of the keys at King Street has been anything, it has been EXPENSIVE.
💲I’ve paid double rent for the month, as the city studio is still operating until the end of March (and double insurance).
💲Booked a skip bin for the demolition rubbish - that cute white room with the scalloped edge is making way for our new kitchen.
💲Hired a floor stripper to pull up VERY GLUED DOWN carpet tiles.
💲Ordered new tiles for the kitchen splash-back.
💲Electrician coming to remove lights and power points.
It’s also been a week of assessing, measuring, sketching, planning and timetabling. The job list is growing but I am very fortunate to have a skilled and tooled-up father on the team. Poor guy thinks he’s retired, but he is very much employed for the next two months (although the pay rate is atrocious).
I drew myself a floor plan so I can begin to work out what goes where, and took a bunch of photos to look back on in a couple months time. Inheriting this space from meant it was already infused with excellent creative juju and some handy features, but now I can see its next life as Studio Safari and I’m itching to get started!
The city studio is available to book until 22 March, so please make the most of that in the meantime. We’ll get Norwood ready ASAP and are taking bookings from 1 April - no joke.
