So many artists in Florence 🎨

But with so much history and beauty there wouldn’t be a shortage of amazing scenes to paint or draw. And who wouldn’t be inspired being in the same city that some of the greatest artists in the world once lived and worked in, famously creating renowned works of art that are adored and studied by art lovers across the globe to this day.

Statue of David at the Galleria Accademia 🇮🇹

Can’t go all the way to Florence and not go visit this famous Italian guy! Survived WW2, not because they encased it in a protective bricked up dome cover but because Hi**er was too much of an art lover and made specific orders not to bomb or destroy the museums and art in Florence. Probably the safest place in Europe during the war! He actually wanted to be an artist when he was younger.. wonder if things would’ve turned out differently if only he wasn’t rejected from The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna twice.

Florence 🇮🇹

One of the best ways to see just how much the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore towers above the city of Florence is to see it from the Piazzale Michelangelo, a 19th century piazza lookout with panoramic views of Florence. Also a popular place for locals to enjoy a picnic and bottle of wine while watching the sun set over the city.

Peekaboo! 🇮🇹

Leaning Tower of Pisa peeking out from behind the Duomo in the Square of Miracles. Not sure why I always thought the tower of Pisa was just a single monument in the middle of Pisa but I was surprised to learn that it’s one of several buildings in an enclosed square that includes a Batistry and a Cathedral. Also that you can actually climb the 297 steps to the top of the bell tower and get a whole new vantage point. 👀

Venice, Italy 🇮🇹

Built on more than 100 small islands on a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. No roads just canals and bridges to get around the island. I was struck at how pretty the colour of the water was and the gondola ride is always a must when in Venice!

A massive highlight of getting to come to Vienna is definitely going to Belvedere Palace and seeing Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss” in person! So beautiful. The only way to do it justice was to take a close up photo of it with my camera. 🇦🇹

Greetings from Europe! 🌍

As the sun sets on another Christmas day so does my time photographing the Santa on the Beach photos for the Kiama Downs SLSC! This being my final year as the photographer for this awesome fundraiser I wanted to do a special post showcasing some of the photos from this year's event featuring and celebrating these amazing families, friends and furbabies. It's been a true honour to capture these festive and happy moments for you all with lots of new faces each year but also some faces that have been coming to this event every year becoming like old friends that catch up every year for Christmas. It's been an even bigger joy to see all your gorgeous little munchkins (and even the not so little ones too) grow year to year.

I would like to send a huge thank you to the Kiama Downs SLSC for having me be a part of this amazing event, I don't think there are words that could ever be enough to describe what a true sense of community spirit that this Club has in bucket loads, it's been a pleasure and my gratitude extends especially to all the wonderful volunteers that give up their own spare time to help out every year! You have all been amazing!! Thank you.

Last but definitely not least I want to send a massive shout out to the super awesome Naida Guy who was the brains behind this whole idea in the first place and has been monumental in making it become what it is today! Your presence this year was definitely extremely missed and hugely felt. The Club and the community are so lucky to have you and Skip with the amount of dedication, passion and heart that you both have given to it for what seems like a whole lifetime by now. To Kath Boniface & Holly... you have gone above and beyond every single year with your hard work and support which is always done behind the scenes and not appreciated enough.. thank you for being so brilliant and for all the years you put in your usual 200%.
