First looks have become so popular for a reason. It's a chance to slow down, step away from the crowd, calm the nerves, and simply be together before the excitement of the day unfolds.

These photos were taken among the beautiful vineyards in Vienna's 19th district. Hard to believe, but the thermometer hit 40°C that day. The images look peaceful and romantic, but behind the scenes, we were all melting in the heat 😅

Family sessions with me never follow a plan. There is no script, no posing, and no expectations. We simply spend time together and let the children lead the way.

Sometimes it's full of running, laughter, and endless energy. Just like this time 🙃 Sometimes it's quiet, full of cuddles and hugs.

Every family finds its own rhythm, and that's what makes every photo shoot unique and keeps my work exciting.

I'm trying to find at least one positive thing about doing a photo shoot in Vienna's city center when the thermometer reads 39°C.

So far... I haven't found one 🙃

That's exactly why, during summer, I schedule all my sessions to finish before 9 a.m. After that, it's mostly sweat, the sun in your eyes, and a constant search for the next patch of shade.

Luckily, this family is from sunny California, so they're no strangers to the heat!

I left this baptism thinking less about the photographs and more about motherhood.

A lovely expat family, a beautiful setting in Votivkirche, and so many kind people around! This was the fourth time I photographed them, and I could easily write another post about how grateful I'm that they keep inviting me to document their family. But this time, there is something else I want to share...

There was one thing I kept noticing throughout the ceremony. The girls were curious, moving around, looking at everything, being exactly the age they are. Their mom never seemed concerned that they weren't standing perfectly still or behaving the way people often expect children to during formal events.

As a mother, I know that isn't always easy. It's much simpler to keep reminding children to sit still, smile, or "behave." Choosing to let them experience the moment as children takes patience. And confidence!

Observing this was incredibly inspiring to me. It reminded me of the kind of mother I want to be, especially on days when expectations can easily take over.

I find myself appreciating parents like this more and more. Not because everything looks effortless, but because they allow their children to be themselves, even on days that carry a lot of meaning ❤

Looking through these photographs afterwards, I'm reminded that this is what I want to preserve - not perfect behaviour, but real childhood.

Two adult children bringing their mother to Europe ❤

An American family of musicians, and one of the reasons Vienna was on their itinerary was their mother's dream of attending a performance at the State Opera.

Before the performance, we met for a relaxed evening walk around the city. I showed them some of my favorite spots in Vienna, we chatted, wandered, and somewhere along the way the conversation turned to childhood memories, family stories, and the years they had spent making music together.

Those are the moments I photograph for. It's never just about nice images, but the stories behind them. Every family brings one. And my job is simply to listen, notice, and preserve.

This session will always stay with me.

It was photographed during a truly difficult chapter in this mama’s life. Pain, uncertainty, exhaustion, but also a strength she probably didn’t even realize she had yet. Still, she chose to hold onto these moments with her children.

And in between all the heaviness, there was something incredibly beautiful to witness - the way her older daughter welcomed the new baby sister. Curious little hands. Tiny kisses. Always wanting to be close to mama...

Looking through these images now feels emotional in a different way, because they remind me that even during the hardest seasons, life keeps moving gently forward. And one day, what once felt impossible becomes part of your strength ❤
