School has resumed and it’s officially Week 2 for William as a 1st-Grader❗️
And wow, this summer —> jam packed with fun, travel, friends and family visits 🇮🇹 🇵🇹 🇫🇷 🇸🇪.
I‘m anxious to settle back into quiet windows of creativity in my studio, as well as out and about on walks in Vienna.
But even so, doing this simple thing w/ Will -turning an IKEA paper shade into a hot air balloon for Marty of Madagascar- is a reminder that whimsy and imagination can be sparked anywhere.
I love being mom to my 6 year old!!

This is ‘Diamond Head’, the 5th photo in my latest series. I’m doing a project on the theme of emotional abandonment using my own life experiences. Diamond Head depicts a chapter that ppl may have considered to be paradise, at least from the outside looking in. I was living on the beach in Hawaii, intending to go the distance with my then partner.

This is ‘International Freeze Out’ and a “bts” pic.

I just finished working on this image today, the 4th in my new Abandoned series of fine art photos … and it’s *so far* the hottest day of the year.

The picture is about being brokenhearted many, many moons ago when I got a letter that said there was “someone else”. It was the absolute last thing I’d wanted to believe.

Of course now I think of it and other periods of heartache as rites of passage.

This is a new photograph in my Abandonment series of images. It’s called ‘Just Don’t Make Me Cry’.
Setting up, photographing and editing these pics is taking a fair amt of time but I’m enjoying the process a LOT. I’m also contemplating what a ‘stand on its own photo’ versus a ‘part of a body of work photo’ encompasses. Hmmm not totally unlike considering ppl as individuals vs being members of groups.

‘Easter Eve’ is part of a new series of fine art photographs I’m working on 📷. I’m referring to it as my snow globe project as in emotionally cold (it’s about feelings of abandonment).

WHY DO I LIKE PHOTOgraphing botanicals?

Plants, flowers, trees - things that grow in the wild or in a garden - are some of my favorite subjects to work with.

Botanicals are alive & dynamic. They come and go with the seasons which keeps things interesting and makes me feel more connected to life here on this spinning sphere.

Once I started photographing flowers I developed more awareness of natural rhythms such as the amount of sunlight at the solstices and in between.

Another thing that I enjoy about shooting botanicals is that I can take my time and obsess over the smallest details if I want to. It’s alignment with my pace.

With experience and plenty of trial + error we learn these things about ourselves… Pretty gratifying.

BE THE BEST VERSION of yourself is this candle’s tagline. Just strike, light and go, easy peasy.

It smells great, not too strong, not too sweet.

When better LED (faux) candles came on the scene I liked their ambiance ok BUT there’s something about the appeal of a real flame that can’t be beat. It’s primal 🐒 🪵🕯️.

And LED candles don’t provide aromatherapy 🍋.

WEARING U.S. SIZE 12 shoes (narrow, but still), I never thought I’d model footwear in product photos❗️

But when you’re also the Creative Director, Photographer, Lighting Technician and Home Barista, anything goes 🎞️ .

If you find yourself in the pedestrian village that is Venice, make sure to stop at Pied À Terre for a stunning rainbow view of classic Venitian slippers. The displays alone are gorgeous photo bombs waiting to happen 💣🥿🥿.

I adore my from Oct ‘23 trip - it’s no wonder as 99% of the time.

COOL & SCULPTURAL or warm w/ studio ambiance? Different surroundings impact the color casts of light. This is why some ppl (🙋🏽‍♀️) care a lot about things like the color temp of light bulbs 💡. Color waves set the mood ✨.
