[Vienna, Austria]
There's still another 11 months till Christmas but there just might be a chance that you start planning now and you'll be able to visit the best Christmas markets in Europe this year!
The crowd heading towards this market located at just in front of the gorgeous Rathaus can be spotted already from way across the street and its popularity was absolutely understandable, the size was already quite spectacular. Entering this market was like entering a glamorous Christmas world sprinkled by fairy dust. The long queues at the food stalls and the crowd didn’t really bother me, being there marveling at its installations already felt like Christmas.
To me, the stalls weren’t even the spotlight of the show. This place was like a carnival, with its own Ferris wheel, carousel and even a huge ice-skating rink in the middle of the market. There was so much going on in this market it was hard not to get overwhelmed with joy.

[Schloss Neuschwanstein]
I visited the fabled castle early in the winter before Christmas, but the weather was cold enough to have snowfall covering the banks of the Alpsee lake and the grounds of the castle, adding to the magical atmosphere of the surrounding area. There are a few spots from the castle (near the exit if you buy tickets for the tour) and the adjacent Hohenschwangau Castle that offers fantastic views of the Bavarian countryside, covered in a thin sheet of snow and frost. I've spoken with multiple friends on this but we all agree that the outside of the castle and its surroundings is better than the inside, so if you can't buy early tickets to visit it is definitely ok! Spend more time exploring the walks and forests around like a character from a fairytale :)

[Kraków, Poland]
Christmas was just round the corner but I still feel the festive vibes in January. Polish Christmas markets do have unique differences from other ones in Europe, like hand painted glass baubbles and handmade metal or cloths. I think the Christmas tree here is definitely the highlight of the market, as it shimmers beautifully under the purple skies of dusk. Where's your favourite Christmas market? Let us know in the comments!

Happy New Year everyone, hopefully 2022 will be a healthy and fruitful year for everyone!
The Mirabell Gardens is the location where the famous “Do-Re-Mi” steps in The Sound of Music was filmed. The von Trapp children enjoyed their first outing with Maria while playing around the city.
There is a significant queue for the steps, which are not fully open for access. If you want to have the place for yourself, try going at night, although the feel is definitely different. For the full The Sound of Music experience you might want to join the different tours around the city such as bicycle or bus tours. Find out more in our articles on Salzburg, link in bio and story!

[Salzburg, Austria]
Similar to Ljubljana, Slovenia, Salzburg is also a city with a medieval castle-fortress on-a-hill. The large fortress is considered one of the largest in Europe and can be accessed by a funicular. The greyish-black tones differ from some of the other fortresses you see in Europe giving it an almost metallic look. Along the river meandering around Salzburg are colourful houses that are perfect for photos. From my background research there is not much to see in the castle, so if you have limited time, most of the time you just have to find that perfect spot for the photo you want. The view from the bridge of Marko-Feingold-Steg and Müllner Steg are also fantastic spots in the city to capture the castle.

[Salzburg, Austria]
Getreidegasse is one of the busiest street in Salzburg, lined with various high-end shops and restaurants. Christmas in the streets of Salzburg was very memorable - from the dazzling lights lining up the streets, to the Christmas markets selling my favourite food such as the apfelstrudel (apple strudel) or a nice currywurst. Salzburg was also very much Mozart's town. Here, you can find the birthplace of Mozart at the heart of the town, visit Mozart statues and other named streets and plazas, and try out the famous Mozart chocolates - which are stuffed with pistachios inside!

The Northern Beaches is a large district north of Manly Beach in Sydney, extending to the very tip of what defines “Sydney”. You can divide it into Lower and Upper parts, with the Upper part covering North Narrabeen Beach to Palm Beach. Using the Opal Card on a Sunday, you can use the maximum limit to enjoy a discounted ride all the way to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse which is literally the tip of Sydney. The views here is absolutely stunning and the Palm Beach below the Barrenjoey Head has the softest and cleanest sand in Sydney. If you have time you should really come here and check out this place instead of just going to typical beaches in Sydney like Bondi - which is usually packed with tourists.

[Sydney, Australia]
Sculptures by the Sea is an annual art sculpture event where various artists from around the world display their work along the rocky shores of Bondi and Tamarama beach. The designs blend in with the natural surroundings such as small houses among the rocks or beautiful coral in one of the small parks along the walk. Larger installations are also found such as gigantic birds or a pinkish tank. Be sure to check out the large sculpture park a bit off the walk as well!

[New York City, USA]
Have you watched the Spiderman: No Way Home trailer yet? The Statue of Liberty is always heavily featured in different shots of New York City, being the symbolic beacon throughout American History. Although you cannot ascend to the top of the statue these days, you can still appreciate it from different angles such as on the ferry to Liberty Island. Although when I was there it was a cloudy and rainy day, it still stood out shining through the greyness.

[New York City, USA]
Brooklyn bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in New York, with the web of diagonal stays and vertical suspender cables anchoring Manhattan and Brooklyn. The classical brown colours of limestone fits with the overall vibe of the older buildings around New York City. The bridge often appears in television shows and movies featuring the city. You can capture from different angle on the bridge or from afar to include the skyline of Manhattan as well.

[New York City, USA]
The beautiful white-winged angelic structure that sits in front of the World Trade Center is the “Oculus”, which is the Transportation Hub for the WTC. It opened in 2016 after the original Hudson Terminal was destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
The station has extensive winged arches built to represent the rebirth of New York amidst all the fear and terror that haunts the city. For me, the highlight was the interior design, which featured zenithal lighting echoing the oculus in the Roman Pantheon. The abundance of light shining into the underground captures a heavenly feeling that reinforces its important message.

[Lake Bled, Slovenia] 🍴☕🍰
The Slovenian national dish, “Blejska Kremšnita”, otherwise known as the Bled Cream Cake, can be found in many cafes and restaurants around Lake Bled. If you eat by the cafés around the lake you can find larger ones to share accompanied by a splendid view.
The original one was created and still sold at the Park Restaurant and Café of the Park Hotel. The delicate cake is created from egg custard, puff pastry, and whipped cream, sprinkled with a snow-like powdered sugar on top. The original recipe is created by the rule of 7s, thus is 7 by 7 cm square in size.
