Can you spot the difference between a 1967 and a 1970 Leica M4 Black Paint?

At first glance, they may look almost identical. But for a Leica collector, the smallest details can tell an entirely different story.

In our new YouTube video, Jo compares a very early Leica M4 Black Paint from 1967 with a later 1970 example - looking at the flash engravings, black-painted screws, brass rewind k**b and other production-specific details.

And then there are the lenses: including an exceptionally rare 11817-code Summilux 50mm f/1.4, with only around 12–15 examples currently known to us.

Meet the Globus Globuscope 360 No. 57 — a rare early example of one of the more unusual panoramic camera designs of its era.

Unlike a conventional panoramic camera, the Globuscope rotates through 360° during exposure, recording the scene progressively onto 35mm film through a slit — no digital stitching, no software, just a mechanical approach to full-circle photography.

This early example, serial No. 57, belongs to the first 100 Globuscopes produced, a group known for design differences from later Series 1000 cameras.

Our example features a brushed chrome body and 22mm f/3.5 lens and comes with its instruction booklet for 8 exposures, bubble-level tripod adapter and original wooden maker’s box.

A wonderfully eccentric piece of 1980s panoramic-camera engineering — and an especially interesting early serial for the specialist collector.
