Luck plays a huge role in Photography. Of course you have to know where to stand, which Buttons you press and what kind of settings you dial in. And yet, the thing that often makes the biggest difference, are the outside conditions. Which kind of light is here to work with and which kind of moody fog arises from nowhere, just at the right moment.
Now it is just the right time to combine the craft with your vision....
We recently had a great workshop at one of austrias very special places. I really enjoy photographing there and I have been there many, many times, but this time we had especially spectacular sunrises - two in a row. How amazing is that.
But still my favorite image of the sequence is the one where I was shooting through the giant leaves.

INDIA
Today with all the hot days and heatwaves, you can possibly feel how it is being out in 45°C and carrying two cameras with big lenses, and of course a waterbottle;-)
Some weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited by the to mentor photographers during big cat safaris. I know that sounds to good to be true, and it was absolutely amazing.
I visited three different national Parks in total and could photograph some stunning wildlife and amazing moments...More is yet to come.

Water is something so special and magical. I love photographing it very much, in every state and throughout the year. No matter if it is just in a small puddle or part of a giant ocean.
I love it so much that I wrote a whole book about it, on how to photograph it.

This little fella was sitting peacefully on the thistle blossom without moving even a little bit. I slowly came closer and closer, but it didn't care. So i took out my tripod and could do a focus bracketing from this scene. In total I took 70 Images with f/2.8 on the amazing 100mm macro

🦋 Six-spot burnet (Zygaena filipendulae) | Kleines-Fünffleck-Widderchen

In post I combined 30 of the 70 images in for extended depth of field on the butterfly without losing the wideopen soft background. The sharpnes is just outerworldly. Swipe to see more.

Combined with the it unlocks its full potential (at least in my opinion).
The last two images show you the difference between the full resolution of the sensor and the cropped image to 2500x2000 px.

Calving Glacier in Spitzbergen
And the name of the glacier is "14th of July Glacier" (Fjortende Julibreen) named by Albert I of Monaco.
It is an impressive 16 km long Glacier with a quite active Glacierfront, as you can see;-)

Wild encounters
On the last trip to the high arctic of we had an amazing encounter. It was a quite foggy day with a lot of uncertainty. Would we be able to land, in those conditions? The thing is, that there is a high chance of being on shore with a polar bear - so fog is not your friend as the distance of sight is quite significantly shortened. Therefore we waited a bit for the fog to rise ever so slightly. Luckily we could get on land an one of our guides found a litter of 7 arctic fox cubs. It really made our day!
So here is a selection of images. As you can possibly imagine, i took plenty of pictures from this one scene.
