RETURNING TO THE PLACE
WHERE YOU FELL IN LOVE 🤍✨
Last time I walked these
halls I was wearing your kiss on my lips instead of Chanel,
Last time I walked these
halls I carried the summer’s heat and your scent of amber and to***co around my neck.
Last time I walked these
halls I was hopeful and energised,
Last time,
I thought we’d share our
connection for an eternity,
This time round my thickened
heart is actually softening like mochi around these halls,
This time I’m not waiting
on your words in between my sleeps,
Not story-telling our adventures
to a friend in another country,
This time the thought of
you makes me smile even though you are far away,
Even though you did not
meet me on the other side.
I wonder what these yellow
airport signs mean,
Maybe nothing at all,
But here you are invading
my mind now that you aren’t traceable on my skin anymore.
Travelling is more than
stepping on and off a plane I realised,
It’s being thrown back into
chapters of life that were over and luckily,
My heart is not yielding.
