"Mirada"
Un mito muy difundido sobre serpientes es que hipnotizan con la mirada.
Esto es totalmente falso, pero uno no puede evitar contemplar la mirada de la Cascabel (Crotalus durissus) sin sentir un enorme respeto. Sus ojos con pupilas elípticas, adaptados para cazar de noche, son verdaderamente impactantes.
Mucha gente siente terror, pero a mi me maravillan.
Es otro de los maravillosos reptiles con los que compartimos el planeta.

"Look"
A widespread myth about snakes is that they hypnotize with their eyes.
This is totally false, but one cannot avoid contemplating the gaze of the South American Rattlesnake (Crotalus durissus) without feeling enormous respect. Their eyes with elliptical pupils, adapted for hunting at night, are truly impressive.
Many people are terrified, but they amaze me.
It is another of the wonderful reptiles with which we share the planet.

"Entre el humano y la naturaleza"

Una Anaconda Amarilla en su habitat natural, un humedal. Pudo adaptarse a las estructuras humanas y continua su vida como la reina de los esteros.

Una Anaconda Amarilla mu**ta en el patio de una casa. Un humano le dio un palazo en la cabeza y su vida terminó de una manera agonizante.
Las dos fotografías fueron en la misma zona de Formosa, con algunos kilómetros de distancia, en la misma epoca y alrededor de la misma hora.
¿Saben cual es la diferencia?
La imagen que cada uno promueve y le gustaría ver en el futuro.

"Between man and nature"
Photo 1.
A Yellow Anaconda in its natural habitat, a wetland. She was able to adapt to human structures and continues her life as the queen of the estuaries.
Photo 2.
A dead Yellow Anaconda in the patio of a house. A human hit it on the head with a shovel and its life ended in an agonizing manner.
The two photographs were in the same area of Formosa, a few kilometers away, at the same time and around the same time.
Do you know what the difference is?
The image that each one promotes and would like to see in the future.

"Culebra serrana"
Buscar reptiles y anfibios en las sierras cordobesas es una tarea difícil. Con muchas piedras y grietas para esconderse, pueden pasar horas hasta que encuentres algo de herpetofauna. Apenas llegué a Pampa de Achala, me crucé con uno de mis mayores objetivos, la Culebra Listada Serrana (Lygophis vanzolini). Esta serpiente es endemica de esa zona, es decir que este es el unico lugar donde se la puede encontrar. Muy parecida a su compatriota de las llanuras, la famosa culebra listada, las diferencias externas son casi imperceptibles. Admiren los colores de este juvenil y apreciemos nuestra fauna autoctona.

"Vanzolini Ground Snake"
Searching for reptiles and amphibians in the Cordoba mountains is a difficult task. With lots of rocks and crevices to hide in, it can take hours until you find some herpetofauna. As soon as I arrived at Pampa de Achala, I came across one of my biggest targets, the Vanzolini Ground Snake (Lygophis vanzolini). This snake is endemic to that area, which means that this is the only place where it can be found. Very similar to its compatriot from the plains, the famous striped snake, the external differences are almost imperceptible. Admire the colors of this juvenile and appreciate our native fauna

"Ranas"
Hoy les muestro a mi rana favorita y una de las mas resilientes que conozco, la Rana del Zarzal (Boana pulchella). Este anfibio se distribuye por gran parte de Buenos Aires y tiene un canto muy reconocible. Siempre me sorprende que cante en climas calidos y frios, en ambientes sanos o muy contaminados. Parece invencible a las condiciones que la rodean. Pero no lo es.
Lamentablemente, ella y muchas otras sufren los efectos de la degradación del ambiente y la contaminación de los cuerpos de agua. En el dia mundial de las ranas, hay que reafirmar nuestro compromiso con el cuidado del medio ambiente y la protección que estas especies necesitan.
Nunca dejemos de escuchar cantar a la Rana del Zarzal.

"Frogs"
Today I show you my favorite frog and one of the most resilient I know, the Montevideo tree frog (Boana pulchella). This amphibian is distributed throughout a large part of Buenos Aires and has a very recognizable song. It always amazes me that it sings in hot and cold climates, in healthy or highly polluted environments. It seems invincible to the conditions that surround it. But is not.
Unfortunately, this and many others suffer the effects of environmental degradation and the contamination of bodies of water. On World Frog Day, we must reaffirm our commitment to caring for the environment and the protection that these species need.
Let's never stop listening to the Montevideo tree frog sing.

"Rosa"
Ir al Parque Nacional Miramar de Asenuza es una experiencia unica. Las aves acuaticas son un espectáculo de por si, pero claramente los flamencos son la atracción principal. Nadie te puede explicar como bañan la laguna de rosa, y lo hermosos que son volando al atardecer. Entre barro, viento y risas, salieron estas fotos lindas.

"Pink"
Going to the Miramar de Asenuza National Park is a unique experience. The waterfowl are a spectacle in themselves, but clearly the flamingos are the main attraction. No one can explain to you how they bathe the lagoon in pink, and how beautiful they are flying at sunset. Between mud, wind and laughter, these beautiful photos came out.

"Ranita amarilla"
La Ranita Amarilla (Dendropsophus minutus) es un animal realmente increíble. Con tan solo 4 centímetros, nos deslumbra con su belleza y estilo. Relativamente común en Misiones, esta pequeña habitante nos regala contrastes increibles en el micro mundo que habita. Cada planta es un bosque, cada charco es un lago, pero ella sigue comiendo insectos y vocalizando para buscar pareja.
Una vida en macro.

"Yellow Frog"
The Yellow Frog (Dendropsophus minutus) is a truly amazing animal. With only 4 centimeters, it dazzles us with its beauty and style. Relatively common in Misiones, this little inhabitant gives us incredible contrasts in the micro world it inhabits. Each plant is a forest, each puddle is a lake, but she continues to eat insects and vocalize to find a mate.
A life in macro.

"La tortuga"
Toda mi vida conocí a la Tortuga Terrestre Argentina (Chelonoidis chilensis) como una mascota en Buenos Aires, por lo que verla en la naturaleza fue un sueño. Su habitat natural incluye la Patagonia, partes del Cuyo, Centro y la zona chaqueña. Pero hoy en día su estado de conservación es vulnerable y es mas común encontrarla en el patio de una casa. Esta especie sufrió (y sigue sufriendo) una fuerte perdida de individuos debido al mascotismo.
¿Qué podemos hacer frente a esto?
Si tenes una tortuga, no la liberes en la naturaleza, ya que puede afectar poblaciones locales.
Si no tenes una tortuga, NO compres.
En ambos casos, concienticemos sobre la tenencia y el origen de este animal.
Asi más personas puedan tener un encuentro como el mío, magico y 100% natural.

"The tortoise"
All my life I have known the Chaco Tortoise (Chelonoidis chilensis) as a pet in Buenos Aires, so seeing it in the wild was a dream. Its natural habitat includes Patagonia, parts of Cuyo, Centro and the Chaco area. But nowadays their conservation status is vulnerable and it is more common to find them in the patio of a house. This species suffered (and continues to suffer) a strong loss of individuals due to petism.
What can we do about this?
If you have a turtle, do not release it into the wild, as it may affect local populations.
If you don't have a turtle, DO NOT buy.
In both cases, let's raise awareness about the possession and origin of this animal.
So more people can have an encounter like mine, magical and 100% natural.

"Gecko"
Dentro de las lagartijas, el Gecko (Homonota horrida) es un animal verdaderamente fascinante. Sus ojos enormes analizando el entorno, su coloración perfecta para el camuflaje y su habitat rocoso le permiten una forma de vida muy discreta. Cualquiera que haya podido cruzarse uno, queda fascinado por sus rapidos movimientos y su increible capacidad de trepar cualquier superficie.
Existe el mito, completamente falso, de que estos animales son venenosos. En realidad se alimentan de insectos, los cuales cazan de noche, y no presentan ningun riesgo para el humano.

"Gecko"
Within the lizards, the Gecko (Homonota horrida) is a truly fascinating animal. Its huge eyes analyzing the environment, its perfect coloration for camouflage and its rocky habitat allow it a very discreet way of life. Anyone who has been able to come across one is fascinated by its fast movements and its incredible ability to climb any surface.
There is a completely false myth that these animals are poisonous. In reality they feed on insects, which they hunt at night, and do not present any risk to humans.

"Zorzal"
El Zorzal Chiguanco (Turdus chiguanco) es un habitante común de las sierras cordobesas. Curioso, abudante y melodioso, hace que sea una de las aves mas reconocibles de la zona. En el Parque Nacional Quebrada del Condorito, la mala conducta de la gente que alimenta fauna autoctona lleva a que el animal pierda comportamientos naturales. Los zorzales se alimentan de semillas, insectos y frutos, no de pan y galletas.
Estos habitos y comodidades del zorzal son perjudiciales para ellos, pero su curiosidad me permitió hacer estas lindas fotos y contar su historia.
No alimente fauna nativa, ellos son capaces de conseguir su propio alimento.

"Thrush"
The Chiguanco Thrush (Turdus chiguanco) is a common inhabitant of the Cordoba mountains. Curious, abundant and melodious, it makes it one of the most recognizable birds in the area. In the Quebrada del Condorito National Park, the misconduct of people who feed native fauna leads the animal to lose natural behaviors. Thrushes feed on seeds, insects and fruit, not bread and crackers.
These habits and comforts of the thrush are harmful to them, but their curiosity allowed me to take these beautiful photos and tell their story.
Do not feed native fauna, they are capable of getting their own food.

"¿Comunes?"
La Culebra de Pastizal (Philodryas patagoniensis) es una de las culebras mas comunes de la provincia de Buenos Aires (y Argentina) . Esta muy distribuida por casi todo el país y sus habitos hacen que no sea muy difícil de divisar. Después de muchas salidas en busca de serpientes, era una piedrita que no me podía sacar del zapato: ver a este increíble animal en su habitat.
¿Dónde te escondés? ¿Por qué tan común y al mismo tiempo, tan difícil?
Fue hermoso, porque tanto tiempo transcurrido le dio mas magia al momento.
En Punta Indio, el lugar que más veces frecuenté.
A finales de Diciembre, última salida del año.
Vimos 2 individuos.

"Common?"
The Patagonia Green Racer (Philodryas patagoniensis) is one of the most common snakes in the province of Buenos Aires (and Argentina). It is widely distributed throughout almost the entire country and its habits make it not very difficult to spot. After many outings looking for snakes, it was a pebble that I couldn't get out of my shoe: seeing this incredible animal in its habitat.
Where did you hide? Why so common and at the same time, so difficult?
It was beautiful, because so much time elapsed gave the moment more magic.
In Punta Indio, the place I frequented the most.
At the end of December, last outing of the year.
We saw 2 individuals.
