My random thoughts from literally last night right before I went to bed.
One of my biggest fears is ever coming across as tone deaf to what’s happening in the world. I legit cringe sometimes when I post about a photoshoot I did or a project I’m excited about, and then open the news and see families still searching for their loved ones under the rubble in Venezuela after the recent earthquakes. Or see the destruction from this week’s earthquake in Colombia. Or see that literally last night there was yet another earthquake in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras. (What’s going on with all these earthquakes!?????)
And then I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I’m going to post on socials this week.
I know this is my job. And I love it so much. I feel incredibly thankful that I get to do this every day. I genuinely cannot imagine a life where I’m not making films or taking photos.
But I also struggle with staying motivated to show up for my business when my work can feel so unimportant compared to what other people are going through. Sometimes I look at the news and just feel completely helpless.
But I also have bills to pay??? A business to run??? A life that has to keep moving??? I feel like maybe other people with creative businesses struggle with this too. Or maybe not. Is it just me???
I’m sharing this because last night I was planning what I wanted to post today, and I just couldn’t make myself talk about anything else. So no, this time I’m not posting a cool video or cute images from a client session.
I’m thinking about all my Colombian brothers & sisters affected by the recent earthquake and all my people back home in Venezuela who are STILL looking for their loved ones 🇻🇪🇨🇴
Gosh. It makes me sick. Hug your people a little tighter tonight❤️
