Edinburgh is absolutely magical 🍂🏰

So it wasn’t a surprise for me to learn that Harry Potter was basically BORN in this city.

Between the cobblestone streets, Gothic architecture, cozy cafés, and the magic of the wizarding world, I can’t think of a better city to visit.

Here’s what to add to your itinerary:

🏰 Explore Edinburgh Castle and wander down the historic Royal Mile

🍂 Stroll through Dean Village, one of the prettiest corners of the city, especially with the fall foliage

🪄 Visit Victoria Street, the colorful, winding street often associated with the inspiration for Diagon Alley

⚡ Stop by Greyfriars Kirkyard to find gravestones with names familiar to Harry Potter fans, including Thomas Riddell

☕ Visit The Elephant House, the café famously associated with J.K. Rowling writing Harry Potter

📚 Explore the little bookshops and cozy cafés tucked throughout Old Town

⛰️ Hike Arthur’s Seat or Calton Hill for beautiful views over the city

🍻 End your day in a cozy Scottish pub with some hearty food (haggis, neeps and tatties anyone??)

Save this for your next Scotland adventure!

The prettiest town in Colorado 💛

As fall begins to slowly wind down and fade into those short, kinda dreary days of winter, I can’t help but reminisce on the golden aspens in my favorite little mountain town: Crested Butte.

After having been here many, many times, here are some of my fav things to do!

🍽️ Where to get coffee, lunch, and dinner:
- Camp4Coffee
- COFFEE LAB
- .bagels
- Secret Stash Pizza
- Rumors Coffee (inside Townie Books/Rumors Coffee)
- A Daily Dose

🥾 A few of the best trails to see fall colors:
- Beaver Ponds via Ohio Pass
- Judd Falls
- Woods Walk
- Beckwith Pass
- Oh Be Joyful
- D**e Trail
- Kebler Pass

Do you have a fav place to visit in the fall??

A desert sunrise 🏜️

If you’re visiting Moab and willing to sacrifice a little sleep for an epic view, then here’s your mini-guide to hiking Delicate Arch at sunrise!

📍 Location: Arches National Park
🥾 Distance: 3.2 miles round-trip
⛰️ Elevation gain: 633 feet
⏰ Time: Allow about 2 hours round-trip, plus time for photos
🚗 Trailhead: Wolfe Ranch parking lot, about 30 minutes from downtown Moab
🌄 When to start: Aim to reach the arch 20–30 minutes before sunrise. Depending on your pace, start hiking 60–90 minutes beforehand.
🎟️ Entrance: National park entrance fee or valid park pass required. No timed-entry reservation required in 2026.

A few tips before you go:
🔦 Bring a headlamp! You’ll be hiking in complete darkness for at least part of the trail.
🪨 Expect a steady climb over exposed slickrock, followed by a narrow ledge just before reaching the arch. Follow the trail markers carefully so you don’t accidentally go wandering off trail!
🧥 Pack layers. Desert mornings are chilly, even if the afternoons are hot.
⚠️ Be especially careful in winter, when snow and ice can make the slickrock and exposed ledge dangerous.

Save this guide for your next Moab adventure! 🤎

Photography editing series, Part 2: The little details of travel 📷

Beautiful landscapes are only one part of the story. Some of my favorite travel photos are of the the museums, architecture, colorful storefronts, beautifully prepared meals, little scenes that add a human element and give a destination its character.

But photographing these details comes with a different set of challenges, especially when it comes to lighting.

Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way:

📷 Shooting in low light: Museums, historic buildings, and restaurants often have VERY little natural light. I shoot in RAW, use a wide aperture when possible (like f/2.8), and increase my ISO rather than risk a blurry image with a shutter speed that’s too slow. A little grain is much easier to work with than motion blur, especially with the denoise feature in Adobe Lightroom.

🏛️ Photographing architecture: Pay attention to your lines and perspective! I try to keep my camera level to avoid distorted buildings and straighten vertical lines when editing. Symmetry can also make a huge difference, especially in ornate interiors.

🍝 Capturing food: Natural light is your best friend. If possible, grab a seat near a window and pay attention to where the light falls. I also love including hands, drinks, and other little details to make a photo feel like a moment rather than just a picture of a meal.

🎨 Editing with intention: I lean toward warm, cinematic tones, but I don’t want every photo to look identical. Different places have different colors, lighting, and moods. My goal is to bring those out rather than apply the same preset to everything.

More than anything, I think good travel photography is about noticing the details that make a place memorable. Sometimes it’s a grand cathedral, and sometimes it’s the afternoon light falling across a table at lunch.
