“From the time you’ve been seated in this taxi, everything is being recorded by the Dubai Police and you are in safe hands!”
I have no words to express the relief I had when the taxi driver told me this. Well, it was clear that I was tensed, since I was attending a midnight mass, all alone, for the first time in my life! I was clutching onto my rosary, and it was pretty evident that I was scared or anxious since I had never got a chance (let’s say I was told that it was unsafe) to leave home after 6PM, during my stay at another Middle Eastern country, which was my home for a decade. I had only been in Dubai for three months and I was slowly coping up with the pace of the city. A single mother in a new city, that does not match the pace of your old city, out in the middle of the night, all alone… well, I had every reason to be anxious! But not anymore! Thanks to His Highness and his team, I can go out at anytime and anywhere in this country. I had never attended a midnight mass for Christmas or Easter in my entire life. But here, I could do it because I trust this country and the ruler. I am a doctor and I have decided to provide my services to this country as long as I can. My son is in the UK and he had invited me to stay with him and settle down there but I told him that I will come for a visit but I will stay here in the UAE and serve this country till my almighty gives me the chance to work here. Now, every time I get into a taxi, I think of that driver and the words he said, “You are in safe hands” and I thank the His Highness, once again for making so safe for the women in UAE.
I am , what about you?
