thought i had this one figured out.

clean watch shots. controlled light. straightforward setup.

then you actually start shooting and realize every surface is a mirror waiting to ruin the frame. the crystal catches reflections i didn’t even know existed. the polished case shows my camera setup in miniature. even positioning my hands wrong throws off the whole shot.

ended up building a mini tent. repositioned the Nanlite FC 120C and Nanlite Wand from more times than i want to admit. switched between macro and wide until the focus finally landed right.

shoutout to .ae for the gear that actually survived my obsessive adjustments. and massive thanks to for trusting the process even when it looked like chaos.

this is what nobody sees when they scroll past watch content. just you, the watch, and figuring out how physics works one failed shot at a time.

Jewelry photography is a game of millimeters. One tiny shift and you lose the sparkle or pick up a stray reflection on the gold.
Lately, I’ve been changing things up. I’m moving away from strobes and using continuous video lights from (thanks to .ae for the gear).
I can see exactly where the light hits in real-time. No guesswork with reflections—what I see on the monitor is what I get.
The setup: my with the 105mm macro, tethered via to . Since the focus is so tight at this scale, I’m using for the focus stacking.
It’s a slower way to work, but for high-end e-commerce, the detail is everything.

Behind the scenes creating key visuals for the new Ajmal Perfume Oriental Collection.
From sand to scent, every frame was built around authenticity — inspired by the Arabian desert and crafted to reflect the soul of luxury perfume photography in Dubai.

We used Godox lights, diffuser scrims to control reflections, and shot tethered to Capture One with a Tether Tools cable for precise, detailed results that bring each fragrance to life.
