This summer, I have learnt the art of letting go... courtesy of Heath (my son).

We arrived in Italy and I had PLANS! I was gonna eat, drink and be merry. Itineraries. Restaurant lists. Places to see. Blog posts saved. Things I was certain would make this the most magical summer for Heath.

He is two. He gave absolutely zero f**ks.

Of course, he did not care about the homemade pasta or the Roman ruins. The lakeside beach spots with the clearest water, oh no. He wanted gelato, rocks and dirt, he wanted to potter around and nicest of all, he wanted us (Well me, he’s very much in the Mummy is everything phase at the mo).

Anyway somewhere along the way I had to admit defeat and that was surprisingly ok. It turned into ice cream for breakfast, chips with pretty much every meal and more screen time that I care to admit. But the world kept on turning and we actually had way more fun after that point.

So note to self when planning a holiday with a young child - lower those expectations, everyone will be happier for it.

Here Heath and I enjoyed a morning in our Cotswold cottage garden. The sun was shining in such a beautiful way on the flowers it made me teary. We were searching for snails, bees and deer with his binoculars. He kept saying ‘cheese mummy’ when he looked at me through them. Pretty sure he couldn’t see a single thing in them but hey, he’s cute!

If you’re on my mailing list you would have just received a little winter diary apéritif. My diary opens tomorrow for my existing & waitlist clients only. I cannot wait to get back out there with you all!

The wildflowers, the dramatic skies, the feeling of being somewhere full of history. Such scenes inspire me endlessly. I love, I love, I love you English countryside.

The perfect way to wrap up desert season, with a bump in the dunes 🌞 It’s wild to think I first photographed for these guys when little S was ‘bump’ and now she’s a big girl, ready and waiting to step into her new role as big sister.

I have a soft spot for maternity sessions for second babies. A final memory of when it was just the three of you. Before your world changes once again ❣️

I often think on this, how your first baby perhaps eventually won’t remember life when it was just them and you. Their new love and life with their sibling will blend into what is normal. It’s a unique time in a family’s story, so I feel like these memories are a precious little secret that you and your oldest can keep together for a lifetime 💌

Tomorrow, my sunshine boy turns 2 🌞

2 years of the most all-consuming love imaginable.

Heath, my darling, you are the light of our lives. You’re soft and kind, hilarious and full of mischief. I love your desire to help with everything, your curiosity in nature, the buds of a little artist that are just beginning to poke through. Everything we own is covered in pen. There are so many things that I love that I think of daily. Your unwavering love & loyalty to your Bunbun 🐰 How you say “ta mama” after basically everything.

Yesterday however, literally overnight, you went from calling me ‘Mama’ to ‘Mummy’. My heart wasn’t ready. But you are ready my love, you are a big boy now.

It’s such an honour to watch you grow and call you mine, but it’s equal parts heartbreaking (selfishly) because I wish I could stay in this beautiful season with you forever.

Happy 2nd birthday my sunshine , I love you endlessly

This season of life, over and over 🌿
Its magical witness a Mama you’ve know a long time, bloom with life, right?

D, thank you for always trusting me with your most precious memories ❣️

Mamas who are expecting this summer - never forget how hardcore you are for getting through a Dubai summer heavily pregnant & postpartum! I’ve been there, I see you.

Make this summer even sweeter with a maternity or newborn photoshoot in Dubai ✨

July, but how?

I blinked.

Summer is at our door once again.
A season where I am blessed mainly with the purpose of documenting families that have grown in number.

Dubai summer babies hold a special place in my heart. I have one of my very own.

July acts as my annual reminder of how the time slips through our fingers. Try as I might to hold onto it, there it goes.

If you’re in Dubai this summer, nesting, preparing your mind, body, and home for a sunshine babe, make a promise to yourself to capture it all. Everything. No detail is too small.

Take it from this Mama who’s about to be 2 years in - there’s not a day goes by that I don’t look back, that I don’t reminisce about our newborn daze spent cocooned in our home, soaking him all in. I miss those days. Where nothing else mattered. Every inch of him as a tiny baby. My son.

The photographs are the best key to those memories.
When I try to conjure them up just with my mind, it’s all a bit of a blur honestly.

I’m so thankful for the photographs.

Family newborn sessions in Dubai.
If you’ll be wrapped up in the newborn haze in Dubai this summer, send me a message and we can make sure to capture it all.

A photographic ode to the toddlerhood curls

When my client messaged me to say “I really want to capture his wispy golden curls as they are now, because I know his hair won’t stay like this for much longer” I instantly knew what she meant. My son’s hair is exactly the same 🍯

Just one of many toddlerhood traits that is so beautiful, it hurts to think it won’t last forever. Our boys.

Their sweetness though, is something I hope they never lose.

Boys sure do love their mamas. What a gift ✨

It wasn’t until this past week, upon some reflection of the season, that it struck me just how intertwined into so many stories, I and family photographers everywhere, truly are.

The chapter I find most profound is where I witness a woman step into motherhood for the first time. How I honour her body with a maternity photoshoot, knowing the journey and transformation she is about to undergo.

And it’s never the same story over and over again, which is the beauty of life. Every story, is of course, different. Every birth, every life.

Ultimately that’s what makes you into the Mother that you now are. Resilient, determined, stronger than you ever realised you could actually be.

And you have the photos to remember who you were before and the power you stepped into when you became Mama.

It’s an honour to be someone who captured that for you.

Imagine opening your gallery & seeing your family captured like this ✨

Joyful, wild & free. Just how childhood should feel ✨

June has arrived, and with it, the familiar feeling of the closing of a book.

My internal calendar always marks June as the end of a year. A time for reflection and to consider what comes next. More on that will be sent out to those on my mailing list today.

I said a fond farewell to the desert on Saturday evening with my last outdoor session and what a beautiful one it was. And as always, I say - Do the shoot Mums - how quickly life can be flipped on its head, as we’ve learnt in the recent months.

As I look back through my sessions that I have waiting to post, ones that I’ve mentally labelled ‘pre-war’, I see so much happiness outside, in the dunes or at the beach or my newest secret green spot. So many family moments, saved forever.

I’m grateful to have captured them before our lives changed. But thank goodness only temporarily. We are the lucky ones.

Celebrate all that you have, capture the smiles of your children as much as you can. Be in the pictures, mums. Soak up this crazy fleeting life we have the privilege of living.

My outdoor season may have been capped this year and I have worked hard to fit as many of the postponed sessions in before it became too hot. Of course, many sessions will have to roll over into next season, and that’s ok.

The dunes will be waiting for us, in all their serene, rolling glory.

All I can say is: next winter season will be the biggest and best yet!!! I hope to see so many of you in front of my lens, celebrating our families and all the UAE has done for us 🇦🇪

After a short pause, I’m returning to the grid with a very golden session ✨

Honestly, after the few months we’ve had, I needed to step away for a while. So I whisked my darling Heath away to the English countryside. And it was everything we needed it to be. Family, friends, endless green rolling fields, fresh air, independent high street strolls and peace.

And now we are ‘home’ again. Back to the sun and golden dunes. And I have a vault full of beautiful sessions to share with you.

As we start to bid farewell to outdoor season and I say goodbye to the dunes for the summer, I wanted to give this session a permanent place on my grid.

It was such a beautiful evening celebrating this Mama, stood beneath the golden sky, preparing to welcome their third baby boy into the world 🌞

Do you feel like the dunes are calling you for a session next winter? My diary opens in August for the next season, I hope to see you there! 🌞
