I'm not sure how much longer my body will allow me to be a photographer.
After the December rush, I was spending most days on my computer from morning to night, editing the galleries to get back to clients. My spine said no more. Last weekend I couldn't stand or walk. My legs collapsed under me and I was in chronic pain.
I have a narrow L5/S1 disc since 2012, and it forced me to stop weddings and food photoshoots due to the pressure on my lower back. I am now walking, but I am struggling to sit for more than 20 minutes at a time. I just can't sit at my desk editing anymore. Just a few minutes and I'm in agony. The risk with this is, if I continue to damage these vertebrae, it could mean not being able to walk permanently, or having to walk with a cane.
Currently I am working with holistic measures to heal, which include regenerating the stem cells on my back and bringing down the inflammation in that area using light and frequency. I haven't started Chiro or stretching as this can cause more harm to aggravate the area. I won't be able to edit more than one shoot per week as I have to space it out over days and hours. This is the only solution that I have at the moment.
I do feel that the universe is urging me to go down a different path for my life. One that's involved in helping people to heal and to do with health. Prioritizing ourselves so that we are not in these positions. Not getting to the point where we work so much that we can't walk. My heart is calling me there.
I will be accepting a maximum of 4 shoots per month until I can either heal my back, or I feel that it's making my back worse. I know I can reverse this. I anticipate a few months, but am confident I've got this. I'll keep you updated on my progress. More X-rays today...
