There has been a widespread global "Ransomware Attack” called “WannaCry” which spreads through email with attachments or links. Can also spread through infected media like USB, storage or computers on the network.
Ransomware attack which has impacted 100 odd countries over this weekend. Request all users to be vigilant and do not click on any unknown links or download attachments from solicited emails.
It is important for end users to stay vigilant and take necessary measures.
• Ensure you use strong password for accessing systems and services.
• Strong password consists of length 8 characters, Alpha Numeric, use of Upper and Lower case along with characters.
• Change your password regularly (within 90 days)
• Do not share or reveal your password to anyone.
• Keep your systems locked and secure when not in use.
• Do not open unsolicited / unknown/ unexpected emails. Do not click on links or download attachments from unsolicited emails.
• Browse the Internet responsibly for business purpose only. Do not download files from untrusted websites.
• Keep your systems up to date with patches and antivirus protection (Mobile/ PC/ Laptop)
• Backup your critical data onto corporate servers regularly
