Amna Al Qubaisi understands the risks of motorsport better than most, especially after an accident that occurred earlier this year. “I had a really bad incident in January where I went into the back [of another car] and destroyed my car completely,” she tells Bazaar Arabia. “For a very long time I wasn’t able to drive too close behind another car because I was getting flashbacks… but I eventually started to overcome that fear.” Nevertheless, the Formula 4 winner has her own methods of safeguarding her mental health, regardless of whatever challenge she’s facing. “As women, we think twice before we do something, but men, they just do it,” Formula 3 driver Amna Al Qubaisi tells Harper’s Bazaar Arabia about the differences in the psychology between male and female racers. “They’re very aggressive, and in the end with men, when two competitors push each other off [the track], they later shake on it and it’s fine, but if a girl does it, we go through a lot of arguments.” Tap the link in bio to read more.

Amna Al Qubaisi is the definition of small but mighty. The 22-year-old motorsport champ and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia November 2022 cover star has plenty of accolades under her belt – she’s the first Emirati female race-car driver and the first Arab female driver to compete (and win) internationally, just to name a few – because what she lacks in stature she more than makes up for in attitude and skill.

Speaking to Editor in Chief Olivia Phillips, Amna shares how she believes racing has always been in her blood, her need for speed having been passed down from her father. “Ever since I was three years old, I would go to the desert with my dad [driver, Khaled Al Qubaisi], and would always ask to take a ride on the buggies,” she says. “He would always tell me to stay in a specific area, but I didn’t listen.
