Each day I practice shooting at home is an opportunity to experiment with my photography skills through finding several ways to improvise and learn new tricks. Granted I live in a studio apartment so space is definitely limited. On my photography hit list, one thing to do more of is stepping out of my comfort zone with light.
I used these Salted Caramel Tea Cakes for this scene. I wanted to create the feeling of an early morning tea sesh, posted right by the window with the early morning sun beaming right through the window, diffused by inner curtain material.
Seeing as I had no photography color gels, I created the warmth and light temperature of this image by lightly painting a cut out from a sandwich bag with orange acrylic paint and a large paint brush, letting it dry and sticking my DIY color gel to the flash. I also wanted the colours to blend and complement eachother hence the gold and pink accents from the backdrop to the tea cups and the cakes.
I’d have to say I was pretty happy with the results. What do you think?
