TONSE ALLIANCE STUDENT LEADERSHIP CALLS FOR PEACE AND UNITY AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

KABWE, ZAMBIA

Tonse Alliance student leader Kamfwa Kabwe has called for a violence-free and inclusive electoral process, urging youths to lead by example in promoting national stability.

Speaking at a high profile modelling event held at Mulungushi University, Mr. Kabwe emphasized that the foundation of a prosperous nation rests on the pillars of peace, love, and unity. He cautioned against the dangers of political fragmentation and called for an end to the culture of electoral violence.

“Our strength as a nation lies in our ability to disagree without being disagreeable,” Kabwe stated. “We must reject the rhetoric of division and instead embrace the spirit of brotherhood that defines us as a people.”

Mr. Kabwe further urged all political players and supporters across the country to practice issue based politics and conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the elections.

An unidentified woman and a female traffic police officer are seen allegedly fighting over what is believed to be a mobile phone, for reasons that remain unclear.

Question: Why are we seeing a rise in confrontations between members of the public and law enforcement officers? Is it possible that the police are failing to effectively execute public relations and human relations practices?

UPND Member Urges Zambians to Re-Elect President HH

UPND member and aspiring running mate to President Hakainde Hichilema, Lengwe Cornelius Bwalya, has called on Zambians to vote for President Hichilema in the August elections, saying the country has recorded significant economic and social progress under the UPND administration.

In a press statement, Mr Bwalya said the government has stabilized the economy through strategic policies, pointing to improved inflation figures, a stronger Kwacha against the Dollar, and positive GDP growth forecasts as signs that Zambia is moving in the right direction. He attributed the progress to reforms in mining, agriculture, and debt management introduced by the UPND government.

Mr Bwalya further praised the increase in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations from K1.4 million to K40 million per constituency, describing it as a bold step towards taking development directly to communities across the country.

He also highlighted the expansion of the school feeding programme to all 116 districts and the introduction of free education from Grade One to Form Five, saying the policies have positively impacted millions of learners nationwide.

Mr Bwalya urged citizens to “defend the gains” made under President Hichilema’s leadership by turning out in large numbers to vote for the UPND in the August 13 elections, stating that the President has demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Zambians within five years in office.

Hon. Anthony Kasandwe MP MOTHER'S DAY REFLECTION

To Every Mother in Bangweulu and across the nation, You Are the Reason We Build.

There is no title more sacred than Mother.
Not Minister. Not Member of Parliament. Not President.

Before any of those titles existed, there was a woman: tired, strong, and unconditional, who held a life in her hands and chose love without negotiation.

Today, on this Mother's Day, I celebrate every mother out there whose hands feed families she will never meet, the young mother who walked impossible distances just to bring life safely into this world, and the mother who did it all quietly, without applause, without recognition, without rest.

But words alone are not enough. We have always believed that the truest way to honour a mother is not in a speech, it is in a maternity ward where she does not have to fear dying while giving life, through sustainable empowerment and access to basic social service.

That is why we have moved beyond promises and speeches by ensuring that we support mothers through providing easy access to basic social services such as maternity annexes, clean water, empowerment and other basic amenities.

Maternity wards constructed at Chinsanka Rural Health Centre, Mabo K***a, Kaishe Mini Hospital, Kasanka, Njipi and many others have significantly reduced maternal and child deaths in recent years.

Facilities such as Veronica Chikonda Adolescent Clinic support mothers significantly because protecting mothers begins before motherhood.

Every brick in every one of these structures is a love letter to the mothers of Bangweulu.
