As South Africa approaches the 50th anniversary of the 1976 student uprising, the Seth Mazibuko Foundation continues its mission to preserve the voices and legacy of the generation that changed the course of our history.
1976 was more than a moment of protest. It was a movement led by young people who stood for dignity, education, and the future of generations to come. Today, through the campaign, we are creating a bridge between the youth of 1976 and the youth of today through conversation, storytelling, leadership and remembrance.
On *16th June 2026* this journey will culminate in the symbolic conclusion of the march that the youth of 1976 could not finish, the handing of a baton and the submission of a youth manifesto to the Government of the day. *March starts at 10h30am* - *From Cnr. Moemo Street & Vilakazi Street* *to Orlando Stadium, Soweto.*
