Perfect timing.

Notice to Parents & Players

Daniel Truter Photography would like to thank all parents and players for the incredible support throughout the 2025 season.

While I don’t actively advertise my services and mainly share images from events, I did assist 10+ athletes last year with professional action photos to help build their sporting profiles—whether moving into their senior year or transitioning to university.

As I do not do photography full-time, I need to limit this service to 8 athletes for the 2026 season, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, as it requires attending almost every game throughout the season.

✅ 6 of the 8 spots are already filled.

If you’re interested, please get in touch as soon as possible.

The sports photography world lost a true legend.

As a new sports photographer and hobbyist, you naturally look for professionals who align with your shooting style and vision. The very first pro I followed, studied, and learned from was none other than Peter Read Miller. From analysing his images to listening to podcasts and watching YouTube interviews, his work shaped the way I see sport through a lens.

Peter needs no introduction. He set the bar incredibly high for generations of sports photographers to come. One of the biggest lessons he inspired was to crop more and always think about the story you want your image to tell.

As one legend leaves us, there are countless photographers continuing to push that bar even higher. What might start as a hobby quickly turns into an obsession when you begin capturing better and better moments. I believe it’s vital to follow at least two or more professional photographers and constantly draw inspiration from them.

For the last couple of years, I’ve been following Zamani Feelings. Although he captures NFL and I shoot rugby, I’ve learned so much from him — staying low, capturing the raw emotion of players and fans, and never shying away from sharing knowledge. You can comment, ask, and he always replies — a true mentor. It also helps when your mentors use similar equipment, especially with new technology knocking on our doors daily.

We may have lost the GOAT of sports photography in Peter Read Miller, but thanks to photographers like Zamani Feelings, the next generation is rising.

Rest in peace, Mr Peter Read Miller. Thank you for your incredible contribution to what I love about sports photography.

Not action or sport related, but this is big news in my eyes!

Every year I patiently wait to head off to the Kwagga Junior Festival in George — not just for the rugby, but to grab a few bags of beans from the best brew in South Africa at that yellow place next to the George Airport.

But today, in my own hometown of Despatch, I’ve laid eyes on my biggest addiction — Elvisbrewco. Yes please! ☕🔥

My bladder’s been put on notice and my debit card is about to take some serious abuse every morning (and maybe a few more times during the day). Watch me run through camera batteries after a couple of Moerse coffees! 😂
