One of the things we love most about travelling is discovering places that make you feel at home—and La Mer Lodge in Arboretum, Richards Bay is definitely one of those places.

We recently stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rooms were clean, comfortable and welcoming, the hospitality was exceptional, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax after a busy day. Its central location also makes it easy to explore Richards Bay or attend business meetings nearby.

Whether you’re visiting for business, a family getaway or just passing through, we can wholeheartedly recommend La Mer Lodge. It’s always a pleasure finding accommodation where genuine hospitality shines through.

We can't wait to visit Lamberts Bay Bird Island again this year. These videos are from our first visit last year. It was an incredible experience 🤩🤩🤩

Just 100 metres off the shore of Lambert’s Bay lies Bird Island, home to one of the world’s only six breeding colonies of the endangered Cape Gannet. It is also the only colony that is easily accessible to the public, allowing visitors to witness thousands of these magnificent seabirds nesting, courting and raising their chicks from a specially designed bird hide.

During the breeding season, the island comes alive with the sights and sounds of tens of thousands of Cape Gannets, alongside Cape Cormorants, Kelp Gulls, Cape Fur Seals and, occasionally, African Penguins. For bird lovers, photographers and nature enthusiasts, Bird Island is one of South Africa’s most remarkable wildlife experiences and a true West Coast treasure.

This book that I bought as a student at the Hospice Shop in Pretoria has been a Bucket list of adventures for me. When the kids were small the book got shoved to the bottom of the piles of books, when life got busy it was half forgotten, it has moved 5 times with me and about to be the 6th time.

This book lets me escape to places that I haven't seen and lets me reminisce of places already visited.

Can't wait to see what adventures are still to come 😎😎
