Welcome to Episode 6 of Chatsworth From Above.
Today our journey through Chatsworth takes us to Unit 6, better known as Arena Park.
And this may be one of the most visually interesting episodes of the series so far.
From above, we're able to capture Arena Park together with some of the most recognisable landmarks in Chatsworth, including Chatsworth Stadium, the Chatsworth Cricket Oval, Arena Park Swimming Pool, Chatsworth Centre and R.K. Khan Hospital.
But this episode isn't only about what these places look like today.
We go back into the history of Unit 6 and explore how Arena Park developed, the origins of its name, why it developed differently from some of Chatsworth's other units, and how the wider precinct became such an important centre for sport, recreation, shopping and community life.
⚽ We revisit the glory days of Chatsworth Stadium, including its famous association with Manning Rangers and their historic triumph as the inaugural Premier Soccer League champions in the 1996/97 season.
🏏 We explore the Chatsworth Cricket Oval and the area's longstanding connection with cricket.
🏊 We look at Arena Park Swimming Pool and the wider sporting and recreational precinct that served generations of Chatsworth residents.
🛍️ We also take a look at Chatsworth Centre, or simply “the Centre” as generations of locals know it, and its development into one of Chatsworth's major commercial landmarks.
🏥 And we explore the history behind R.K. Khan Hospital, which has served generations of families from Chatsworth and surrounding communities since 1969.
There's also an interesting geographical fact hidden in this episode.
Despite their close proximity to Arena Park, Chatsworth Centre and R.K. Khan Hospital are officially associated with Westcliff in current address records.
How many of you knew that?
We didn't feature either landmark during our Westcliff episode, so with both captured so prominently alongside Unit 6 from above, this was the perfect opportunity to include their stories.
This is what Chatsworth From Above is all about.
Not simply capturing beautiful aerial footage, but documenting the history, landmarks and memories that have shaped generations.
