Usually on a dirt road in the bush. A lot of waiting. Sometimes it pays off 📸

One of those quiet safari moments that doesn't need much explanation.

Two rhinos settling a disagreement... then a third one arrived to officiate. 🦏😂

No idea what the argument was about, but the referee took the job very seriously.

I first saw these cubs when they were only a couple of weeks old.

A few months later, they're exploring, playing and growing stronger every day.

It's always special to watch a wild story unfold and to see young cubs doing well.

The road belonged to them.We simply waited our turn.

Earlier that morning we'd picked up fresh leopard tracks, so the cats were definitely out and about.

As we discussed where to head next, Heinrich Neumeyer Wildlife Photography & Tours said, "Let's go up to Kubu Highest. Maybe Shamiso is walking in the road – she likes doing that at this time of the day."

So off we went.

We crested the ridge and carried on a little further. As we rounded the corner, Heinrich shouted, "Leopard in the road!"

At first we thought it was Shamiso. The cat looked small enough from a distance, but as we got closer we realised it wasn't her at all. It was another leopard entirely.

It just goes to show that you can spend years in the bush learning animal behaviour, favourite routes and habits, and sometimes that knowledge puts you exactly where you need to be. Add a bit of luck, and you never quite know what might be waiting around the next corner.

A rhino roadblock in beautiful morning light.

Some delays are worth it.

Watching these giants rest quietly as the first rays of sunlight touched the bush was a reminder that nature always works on its own schedule.
