I finally made it to my dream river👇

I recently made the journey to a place I’ve dreamed of exploring for years. It's remote, and with diesel prices what they are, walking the wild, exquisite coastline felt like the best way in.

Fishing without a vessel was tough. I worked through every lure, every retrieve, with only a few chases to keep my spirits up until I eventually came right with a small but hard-earned fish🐟

I left with more questions than answers, but a little wiser, and already drawn back for another attempt.

Siya and I rested easy, thanks to the comfort of our .co mattress😴

Some snaps from a long walk👇

Siya and I recently hiked to a river that I have been aching to explore for ages.

As usual, I met some beautiful people and basked in the raw beauty of this place I call home🐂

More to come from this adventure!

When the water is clean, it can be tough to find the fish🐟

But when you do, the abundance can be staggering!

When harvesting from the sea, it's always important to think long-term. Especially since I share this important resource with my community, many of whom depend on the health of the sea for sustenance.

Don't catch your limit, limit your catch. Enjoy the scenes and appreciate where you are!

Indian Goatfish 👇

I’ve wanted to make a gyoatku print one of these chaps for some time, especially after hearing how good they taste.

With those tassels on their chins, used to locate crustaceans from the sand, along with their beautiful fins and broad scales, I knew it would make a great print.

The meat is soft and pearly white. Delicious, with a slight crayfish flavour.

And yet, despite all of that, I’m not sure I’ll take another.

Some fish are meant for the pan. Others feel like they belong to the reef.

With their bright pink bodies and luminous fins, these might be one of those I leave behind. Something to admire, rather than chase.

Then again…we’ll see how hungry I am on the day😉

I have five of these beauties left. Dm for details 🐟

The stinkiest gyotaku ever?

I found this crab washed up on the beach. It was still intact, which doesn’t happen often.
It felt like an opportunity I couldn’t ignore. A gift from the sea.

The smell, though, was something else😂

Printing indoors was out of the question, and with the weather turning, I had to wait it out.

When I finally got to it, the usual approach didn’t work. Too many angles, too much going on. It was a frustration crustacean🦀

So I took it apart and printed it piece by piece. Slowly and carefully, it started to come together.

Not every session is about clean results. Some are just about figuring things out. And these are often the most valuable to an art practice.

I ended up with one print I’m happy with…and thankfully, it doesn’t carry the smell.

Bits and pieces from the last while.

I took a break from posting on here for a bit. I am just getting back into it now.

There is pressure (most of it self-inflicted) that comes with sharing creatives on social media, and it started to feel a bit like a content factory.

I took the time to make new work, form a few wonderful collaborations and focus on where I would like the creative juices to flow this year.

I am excited to share. Stay tuned

Stop wasting fish!👇

It amazes me how many folks throw away some of the best parts of a fish.

After taking off the fillets, there is still so much leftover meat available in the carcass.

Cooking them up and picking off the meat to make these fishcakes is just one way of maximising your catch.

After this process, I boil the bones to make amazing fish stock before composting the remaining carcasses to feed my garden.

Whenever we consume anything, whether it is store-bought or foraged, we owe it to that animal or plant to maximise its use.

It’s more than just getting the most out of our money or eating more sustainably.

You are what you eat. Show it the respect that it deserves.

River Gurnard 👇

Globally known as the Bartailed Flathead, this prehistoric-looking fish inhabits many of our estuaries. It sits camouflaged in the sand, eyes fixed upward, waiting for an unsuspecting baitfish to swim past before launching a lightning-fast ambush.

This print posed a challenge. I wanted to print it from above to capture its unique upward-facing eyes and spiny head, while still preserving the detail in the fins and tail that usually requires printing from the side.

The solution was a slight bend in the tail, allowing the fins to lie flat without looking unnatural.

The result is a beautifully detailed print of the fish, poised as if ready to strike.
An ode to an often overlooked (and delicious) member of our aquatic community🐟

Four prints left! DM for details.

I finally printed this fish👇

From the moment I first saw this prehistoric-looking creature, I knew it was destined for ink.

The River Gurnard, or “Flatty” as it’s known in Australia, is an often overlooked fish in our waters🐟

They lie camouflaged on the sand, eyes pointed upward, waiting for baitfish to drift too close before launching a sudden ambush.

With its incredible spines and texture, it’s a perfect subject for a print, but there was one challenge.

Most fish are printed side-on, and this one needed to be printed from above.

The solution was a gentle tail curve to retain the detail while preserving a natural look.

Another species ticked off the list — and a delicious one at that.

I’m seriously stoked with how these prints came out.
Only four left, DM if you’re interested🔥

Moments big and small, love them all.

Look at the weather. So wild and strong.
Look at the tiny crab as it scurries along.

The pop of a tomato, the shift in the breeze.
To notice is awareness, and with awareness comes ease.

So enjoy it while it lasts, because nothing is forever.
Attachment, in the end, is a fool’s endeavour.

So take a breath. Your heart is still beating.
Moment to moment, time is fleeting.

Remember the weather, remember the sea.
They were here before you, and they will be here long after me.
