Two of Durban’s iconic landmarks taken from another of Durban’s iconic landmarks. This image was taken from the Umhlanga whalebone pier and is one of my favourite views of Durban.

This image was taken from Durban’s North Beach during winter. I wanted to get an image of surf spray with the iconic Moses Mabhida stadium in the background.

Silhouette of boy who was part of a group of people who follow the Shembe religion. They had just finished praying on the beach. I almost missed this shot as I was leaving for my car. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him standing there looking at the beach. Just after I pressed the shutter he turned and he moved.

For me this image sums up the history of Hagia Sophia. It was built as a cathedral and when it was completed it was the largest structure in the world. When the Ottomans conquered Constantinople it was converted to a mosque but the Ottomans didn’t destroy anything. They just covered up the mosaics and frescoes.
