Welcome to Namibia: Remnants of the Skeleton Coast, a dedicated space for following the progress of a winter 2026 fine-art photography expedition along one of Africa’s most isolated coastlines. All project updates, early previews, and limited-edition release details will be published here first.

A new body of work is now underway, dedicated to one of the most remote and atmospheric landscapes on the African continent. This project will document the Skeleton Coast through a fine art lens, focusing on its quiet structures, shifting textures, and the profound sense of isolation that defines the region.
The intention is not to reproduce images that already exist, but to interpret the coastline with a distinct visual voice. Every photograph in this series will be crafted as a collectable artwork, forming a limited edition portfolio accompanied by a high-quality coffee table book.
Subscribers to this page will be the first to see the progress of the expedition, early previews from the field, and announcements regarding print releases and publication timelines. The journey will be documented from planning through to the final curation stages, offering an inside view into the creation of a fine art collection from start to finish.
If the essence of remote landscapes, long-form photographic projects, or fine art printmaking resonates with you, following this page ensures that you remain part of the unfolding narrative. The work will be shared here first, directly as it develops.

Follow this page to receive all expedition updates and early release announcements.

While many images of the Skeleton Coast already exist, this expedition approaches the subject from a fine art perspective. Namibia: Remnants of the Skeleton Coast is not a documentary project but a creative exploration of form, tone, and atmosphere, transforming the familiar into something deeply personal and visually distinctive from this photographer's point of view.

Each image will be crafted using fine art photography techniques to evoke emotion and a sense of timelessness, ensuring that every piece stands as a unique work of art. The final collection will be presented as a series of limited edition, signed fine art prints and an exclusive coffee table photobook, produced to the highest archival and aesthetic standards.

This expedition celebrates the meeting of artistry and desolation where wind, light, and memory shape the remnants of one of the world’s most haunting coastlines.

Many have lost their lives on this rugged stretch of Namibian coast. The 500 kilometre stretch of land, which stretches from the Ugab River in the south to the Kunene River on the Angolan border, contains two types of carcasses – those of ships and those of marine mammals.

The local, indigenous San people called the region “The Land God Made in Anger,” whilst Portuguese sailors dubbed it “The Gates of Hell.” When hot, dry desert air from the mainland meets cold, dense air over the ocean, dense fogs forms. Alongside treacherous currents, shifting sandbars, and a heavy rolling surf, this made it difficult for the non-powered boats of yesteryear to navigate the coastline and get out of trouble. Now, up to a thousand shipwrecks are thought to litter the Skeleton Coast, making it one of the world’s largest ‘ship graveyards.’

However, the coast is also a whale graveyard. During the 18th and 19th centuries, European and American whalers operated heavily in the South Atlantic. Tens of thousands of whales were slaughtered, and when their remains washed up on the Skeleton Coast, they stayed there, rotting slowly and bleaching in the sun.

Shot in Sossusvlei, Namibia, a place where the dunes seem to touch the sky.

Minimalist? Empty? Or simply powerful in its silence?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. As I move towards sharing the Skeleton Coast Expedition series, this is the kind of conversation I want to spark. Do you see beauty in the simplicity, or do you prefer more detail and drama in an image?

The Coast That Swallowed Ships

Mist rolls in from a cold, restless sea. Winds whip the sand into fierce patterns, and the shoreline hides secrets of the past. Rusted fragments and weathered debris hint at struggles long gone, swallowed by relentless waves and shifting dunes.

Life persists in unlikely forms, resilient shrubs, wandering wildlife, but the coast remains untamed. A place of beauty and danger, memory and mystery. Stand here, and you feel the weight of time and the quiet power of nature that claims all in its path.

Welcome to Namibia: Remnants of the Skeleton Coast

This page follows the journey of a fine-art photography expedition set along one of the world’s most remote and enigmatic shorelines.

From the haunting silhouettes of shipwrecks to windswept dunes and the fragile life that endures in winter’s stark light, I will be creating images that capture the Skeleton Coast in its raw, unfiltered beauty.

Over the coming months, I will share expedition updates, creative insights, and a look into the preparation and journey behind this fine-art project.

Thank you for joining me at the beginning of this journey. Your presence here helps bring this vision to life.
