Bev lives in Cape Town, South Africa and splits her time between photographing social entrepreneurs and the work of NGOs and supporting local social entrepreneurs at the African Social Entrepreneurs Network and the Social Enterprise Academy Africa. She has worked in the social entrepreneurship and NGO field for the last 19 years, running two social enterprises – one providing consultancy, research

and training services to NGOs looking to develop social enterprises and the other a software development company which developed software for social entrepreneurs. She holds an MA in Social Enterprise: Development & Management and has lectured in social entrepreneurship in two universities in the UK. Since arriving in South Africa in 2010 Bev has worked as a consultant in a number of local social enterprises. She joined the African Social Entrepreneurs Network team in 2011 to support the work of the national office and then subsequently the team at the Social Enterprise Academy Africa. As well as photographing social entrepreneurs and the work of NGOs Bev also loves photographing landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, plants, animals and anything else that does and doesn’t move.

Its been a while since I've posted here on my page.

I've been focusing on my role in Grow Recruitment Services which is working to get unemployed youth in disadvantaged communities into work. It's been a challenging but good year.

Photography hasn't been completely forgotten - and will be more frequent in 2019!

But just to end the year, look out for some (very special to me) photos of elephants I have been working on!

We had an amazing overnight stay at Inkwenkwezi in East London. What a beautiful and unique place. Tiffany, the game ranger, was brilliant - so knowledgeable! We felt like we were the only people there - their customer service is incredible.

Had the privilege of visiting Villiera Wines yesterday afternoon with some fellow photographers to see if we can capture some new shots for them. We met their brand new kudu, waterbuck and the extra giraffes they've introduced since we were last there. These are a couple of the unfinished shots.

I'm in Brussels for a conference on social innovation for the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Armed only with my 50mm lens I went exploring. It was the perfect day for moody shots of the city ...

Spent time yesterday with Uncle John - the Western Cape's best plumber (according to his customers. He's one of the guys with Fix Forward.

What an absolute treat to meet him, such a lovely guy and so committed to doing an excellent job. Its quite something watching an expert at work - even if it is plumbing.

He started as a plumber when he was 17 and has worked ever since. He started up on his own 2 years ago and has been busy ever since.

His main passion in life is creating jobs for young unemployed men. Brendon, who works with him, was one of those guys!
