This was from the Jersey shore one evening. I took a ferry to a taxi to drop me off at just the right spot. One of my favorite spots. One wrong number led to my genuine friendship with Wernher Krutein - a photographer who has spent more than five decades capturing over 500,000 images of history, culture, science, and humanity.

Since sharing his story, the support, follows, comments, messages, and kindness have meant more than I can explain. Thank you for taking the time to learn about him, share his work, and help bring new life to an archive that truly deserves to be seen.

Every dollar raised and every print purchased goes directly to Vern. We were friends for six months before starting this account. As our friendship grew, I learned more about his financial situation and was saddened by his reality. I wanted to help in the only free way I knew how — by using the power of social media.

The reality is that after dedicating his life to documenting the world, Vern is now close to running out of savings. The shift to the digital age dramatically reduced traffic to his website and sales of his work.

THANK YOU & for inviting us to be interviewed on the LIVE in NYC to share the story of our friendship and the beginning of ❤️

It has been so surreal to travel to New York together and be met with open arms by the entire TODAY Show team. When this all started, I vividly remember crying with Vern, terrified of what would happen to him and his archive as he was running out of money to survive. I was selling his posters on our local marketplace and spending every free second I had creating and posting videos, just hoping someone would care. I could have never predicted Vern’s photovault archive would reach MILLIONS of people across the world 😭

These tears of fear have quickly turned into tears of deep joy. It is genuinely hard to process how quickly and how deeply the internet fell in love with Vern, his art, and the way he sees the world. So well deserved & long overdue! 🥰

Vern and I are on a plane to New York City!!! Can’t wait to share what we’re up to!

We were going through PhotoVault.com at the airport when Vern showed me this photo of himself at the Empire State Building and casually mentioned that he once rented out the top of it for two hours.

Because of course he did.

The story behind that photo is on the next slide, and it’s such a perfect example of how many wild, beautiful, unbelievable stories Vern has collected throughout his life.

Vern has lived in New York multiple times, but this is his first time traveling on a plane in 10 years. I feel so lucky that I get to experience this trip with him, hear the stories in the places they happened, and make new memories together.

Back in NYC with Verndawg. I can’t believe this is real!!! 😭❤️
