A little sneak peek from this beautiful family session at Harmony Homestead. 🌾✨

Golden hour gets all the attention—and for good reason. The warm tones, dreamy glow, and soft light can be absolutely beautiful.

But here's the part you don't always see: depending on where you stand and how the light is hitting you, golden hour can actually make photographing (and editing!) more challenging. The wrong angle can leave faces looking much darker than you'd expect, so positioning is everything.

This image, though? It was one of those rare moments where everything just came together. The light was exactly where I wanted it, and this photo needed next to no editing. Sometimes nature gives you a little bit of magic. 💛

Gym lights, fast breaks, and a little less chaos for the camera. 🏀📸

Basketball at Pine Ridge is definitely a bit friendlier for sports photography than hockey. The lighting in the gym makes a huge difference when trying to freeze those quick plays and reactions.

I’m still working with the gear I have and learning every time I step behind the camera. A better sports lens is on the wish list (and slowly being saved for), but in the meantime I’m enjoying the challenge of capturing the moments that happen in a split second.

Sports photography is all about timing, patience, and a lot of missed shots before the good ones. But when you catch that perfect moment — it’s worth it.

A little late for International Women’s Day, but celebrating girls in sport deserves more than just one day.
These athletes show up, work hard, and support each other every time they step on the floor. Watching young women grow in confidence, strength, and teamwork through sport is something really special.
As I slowly save up for a better sports lens, I’m really hoping to capture more moments like this — especially in women’s and girls’ sports, which don’t always get the spotlight they deserve. These athletes deserve to be seen, celebrated, and remembered.
