Wandering.
Small towns in the countryside of Normandy.
Chateaux’ open their doors for the holidays. Farms turn barns into mangers - with every animal including turtle doves, and every street in every town decorates for Christmas, no matter how small the town is. One of the prettiest times to take road trips with no real destination. Especially during the holiday season.

I’m very proud to share that 5 of my images from my new body of work “Detritus: at the Edge” have been purchased for a private collection at the Hammer Museum, in Los Angeles.
I’ll be sharing other images from this collection over this next week.
“Los Angeles exists at the very edge of our continent, and is a city of vast multi-cultural diversity. For nine years, I have walked the same 3 mile stretch of beach there, finding cast-off fragments rich in human implications, burnished from the sea.
I am a collector, a seeker, and on this stretch of beach, a cultural anthropologist.
There is a societal narrative to the objects - they are a way of examining the city’s unique cultures through its detritus, an unheard story in every fragment collected, altered by living energy, at the edge of decay.

Peering down into a giant clam no.2.
Abstraction.
Papua New Guinea.

I lived in Port Douglas, Australia for 6 months, and was able to travel to Papua New Guinea multiple times. I am a certified diver and find myself lost in the beauty of our underwater worlds. The reefs in Papua are teeming with life - virtually untouched by the damages of tourism - and environment. There were giant clams everywhere - underwater as well as strewn on the beaches - and were as plentiful as the small clamshells you find littered on the beaches of New England here in the US.

For the past three weeks, I’ve been working on a single body of new work, which has since grown to 3 different bodies of new work. I’m not sure I’ve ever worked so hard in such a short timeframe in making new work, but the material was there - and it all finally came together from my subconscious to my conscious. 9 years of collecting! Very exciting process for me!

Month Three.
Coffee.
Still life work I made during the stay at home period of Covid.
Coffee became a significant ritual in starting my day. Often, the only activity I had planned.

Month Three is one of the images that was part of my Still Life Series that was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards.

Thank you, again, to the jurors:
Elizabeth Biondi, former editor of the New York Magazine, and Barbara Davidson, Pullitzer prize winning journalist.
A heartfelt congratulations to all my friends and fellow photographers who were also awarded.

“Month Two. Artichoke I left cooking on the stovetop for five hours, housed in a horseshoe crab.”

I’m proud to announce that my series, “Stilled Life,” has placed and also been awarded an Honorable Mention in the 16th annual Julia Margaret Cameron Photography Awards.

This series I am particularly proud of, as it was my first foray into the world of still life imagery, which I made during the stay at home period of Covid, using created or collected objects from my home.

In addition, 2 other series of mine have placed and won Honorable mentions in the Fine Art and Nature Categories, as well as a single image being awarded an Honorable Mention in the B & W category.

Thank you to the jurors: Elizabeth Biondi, former Visual Editor at the New Yorker Magazine and Barbara Davidson, Pulitzer prize winning journalist.
